Donna Koczynski is a failed punk rocker, recovering alcoholic, and suburban mother of two teenagers whose relatively peaceful existence suddenly detonates when she comes home early from a sales conference in Vegas to find the surprise of a lifetime. Suddenly realizing that life can be more than the rut of middle-aged motherhood, she sets off on an impulsive quest to reclaim everything she believes she sacrificed since her wild youth: Friendship, great love, and art. But as she flees her family and drives across the U.S. on what she calls an "emotional scavenger hunt"(and others might call a midlife crisis), nothing will turn out as she imagines. When her trip ultimately deposits her on faraway shores, making sacrifices of a wholly different kind, Donna begins to redefine what it means to be brave -- and what matters in the end. Irresistibly funny, sharply-observed, and surprisingly moving, DONNA HAS LEFT THE BUILDING spins an unforgettable tale about how to make every day count as a wife, a mother, and a woman.

Will Sandy Panther find fame and fortune and a recording contract? It's a dark and mysterious time, with no Internet or tiny handheld thingamajigs to help out. The first monograph on the architectural sculptor and installation artist and long-time collaborator with the New York School poets Best known for creating large-scale installation work inspired by American vernacular architecture, Dennis finds beauty in places shaped by ordinary people, which become repositories for memory and feelings. Her seemingly familiar yet often darkly mysterious sites evoke memories, encourage reflection, and allude to the transient nature of life. This book contextualizes Dennis’s work within contemporary art and the women’s movements and traces the arc of her career, tracing the evolution of her architectural sculpture over more than forty years, exploring her artistic collaborations with poets, and presenting her most recent work, a series of gouaches and dioramas, for the first time. A conversation between Dennis and painter Rackstraw Downes brings to life the artist’s influences through her own words. With insightful text by feminist art scholar Helaine Posner, plus commentary from Dennis on the sources and process of creating the work, this book is an essential addition to the libraries of collectors and art historians interested in the architectural sculpture movement of the 1970s, and all those interested in feminism in art.

Reznicek's early comic opera Donna Diana, premiered at Prague's New German Theatre on December 16, 1894, was fairly popular in its day but largely forgotten now. Fortunately, its delightful overture rapidly took on a life of its own in the concert hall, where it soon became part of the standard repertoire. This new edition prepared by Richard W. Sargeant Jr. is based upon the first edition of the opera full score issued by Schuberth in 1895 and showcases Reznicek's orchestral brilliance for the enjoyment of professionals and amateurs alike. The voyage on which you are about to vicariously embark begins in mid-December 1974 in Tahiti, where Donna Merwick Dening and her husband Greg Dening lived on the outskirts of the capital Papeete with locals Aritana and Victorine Hozolet. The voyage takes in the other Society Islands to the east, Moorea, Huahine, Raiatea and Tahaa, before taking us west to the journey's ultimate destination - the Marquesan islands. With their ancient maraes falling into disrepair, their lonely graves neglected, and their monuments to European dreams deteriorating, the Society Islands anticipated what was to come in the Marquesas. Anticipated but did not fully prepare Donna and Greg for the experiences that awaited them at the end of December 1974 and the beginning of January 1975 on the islands of Hiva Oa, Tahuatu, Ua Huka, Nukuhiva and Ua Pou.

An exploration of decolonial, feminist and personal themes in the West Texas landscape through Huanca’s painting and sculpture The latest volume from Chicago-born, Berlin-based multimedia artist Donna Huanca (born 1980) engages with the landscape of West Texas, while also drawing on visual, cultural and mythological cues informed by feminism, decolonialism and the artist’s personal histories. Documenting the exhibition of the same name at Ballroom Marfa (the title of which translates to “burnt mirror”), the bilingual English and Spanish catalog is an exploration of Huanca’s first memories of Marfa, Texas. Created during the pandemic, Espejo Quemada moves away from Huanca’s live public performance work and focuses on the performative presence inherent in her sculptures and paintings, including the use of mirrors. With essays from Ballroom Marfa curator Daisy Nam, Whitney Museum of Art associate curator Marcela Guerrero and poet Raquel Gutiérrez, alongside the transcription of a walkthrough by poet and cultural critic Roberto Tejada, Espejo Quemada reminds us that the sentient body is a potent source and repository of memory, intuitive knowledge, imagination and desire.
