All Mira Kinvara wanted was to be a great mechanic, like her father. But when the sickness that killed her mother ten years earlier reappears in her rural town in the Sand Kingdom, this time afflicting her father, Mira's world is shaken to its foundations. The only hope her father, and her entire town has lies in The Hourglass, the shining capitol of the Sand Kingdom. Her only ally is Sonam Nzari, a chauvinistic young man for whom she was nearly purchased as a child bride. Mira and Sonam quickly find themselves tumbling into a dark world of organized crime, international espionage, corrupt dignitaries, and law enforcement bent on their arrest.Had Mira remained in her village, the fever no doubt would have taken her. But seeking the cure may be deadlier than she thinks.

It won't be an exaggeration to say that we are often defined by our beliefs. According to Smith Graham's first book, "Believe Do Achieve", it's our belief system that gives us a sense of belonging, helps us see the difference between right and wrong, and leads us to take important decisions in life. But what happens when your belief system is shaken? Or, when your thoughts are crowded by the wrong kind of beliefs? Either of the scenarios can have devastating consequences not only for us, but also for those around us. Understanding the impact of beliefs and developing the right kinds of beliefs is necessary to lead a blissful life. But how can you achieve that?Beliefs are what leads us to doing certain things and in turn doing things turn us into achievers and in this book we will look at key concepts as to why some people achieve more than others and how to become an ACHIEVER. In "Believe Do Achieve", the author explains that the power of positive beliefs can help us achieve success and happiness, whereas negative beliefs can wreck our lives. To help the readers better understand the concept, the author has broken down the information in various chapters that dig deeper into aspects such as the definition of beliefs, the process of the formation of beliefs, and the impact of beliefs.Unlike most books in the genre, "Believe Do Achieve" actually offers tips and strategies that we can use in our day-to-day lives to form positive and empowering beliefs, strengthen those beliefs, and find practical applications of those beliefs. With your understanding, you can even help others in their journey of finding the right kinds of beliefs.
Evolving the Mind has two main themes: how ideas about the mind evolved in science; and how the mind itself evolved in nature. The mind came into physical science when it was realised, first, that it is the activity of a physical object, a brain, which makes a mind; and secondly, that our theories of nature are largely mental constructions, artificial extensions of an inner model of the world which we inherited from our distant ancestors. From both of these perspectives, consciousness is the great enigma. If consciousness evolved, however, it is in some sense a material thing whatever else may be said of it. Physics, chemistry, molecular biology, brain function and evolutionary biology - almost the whole of science - is involved, and there can be no expert in all these fields. So the style of the book is simple, almost conversational. The excitement is that we seem to be close to a scientific theory of consciousness.

Art in the Age of Terrorism

"Art in the Age of Terrorism" tackles one of the most difficult topics imaginable - a war that is quintessentially postmodern in its decentred identity, globalized character and confused conflict of cultures. In this publication both artists and critics explore in a series of essays the various ways in which art can help articulate the zone of grey that lies behind the black and white term 'terrorism'. A significant number of the texts deal with the theme of 'the unspeakable', from a number of perspectives. An international plurality of voices is offered in this book, addressing key works by artists from New York, Northern Ireland, South Africa, Lebanon and Israel, many of them profoundly moving and poignant. A number of contributors address the problems facing refugees from terror in the post-9/11 era, exploring the cruel logic by which the contemporary refugee from terror is often perceived as a terrorist and treated accordingly. Other essays address the topic of terrorism more directly and in so doing demonstrate that this 'unspeakable' topic can, and indeed must, be openly discussed.

In Eleanor Smith's Hull House Songs: The Music of Protest and Hope in Jane Addams's Chicago, the authors re-publish Hull House Songs (1916), together with critical commentary. Hull-House Songs contains five politically engaged compositions written by the Hull-House music educator, Eleanor Smith. The commentary that accompanies the folio includes an examination of Smith's poetic sources and musical influences; a study of Jane Addams's aesthetic theories; and a complete history of the arts at Hull-House. Through this focus upon aesthetic and cultural programs at Hull-House, the author-editors identify the external, and internalized, forces of domination (class position, racial identity, patriarchal disenfranchisement) that limited the work of the Hull-House women, while also recovering the sometimes hidden emancipatory possibilities of their legacy. With an afterword by Jocelyn Zelasko.

This publication will introduce Smith’s expansive body of work to a new generation of viewers. Situated alongside movements of conceptual and pop art and shaped by the feminist movements of the 1970s, Smith’s singular career expands our understanding of American art and provokes us to think critically on the culture we share.
