Ḥussein, in full Ḥussein ibn Ṭalāl, Ḥussein also spelled Ḥusayn, (born November 14, 1935, Amman, Transjordan now Jordan]-died February 7, 1999, Amman, Jordan), king of Jordan from 1953 to 1999 and a member of the Hāshimite dynasty, considered by many Muslims to be among the Ahl al-Bayt ("People of the House," the direct descendants of the Prophet Muhammad) and the traditional guardians of the holy cities of Mecca and Medina. His reign marked the shaping of the modern kingdom of Jordan, and his policies greatly increased the Jordanian standard of living. Following the July 1951 assassination of Ḥussein's grandfather King ʿAbdullāh in Jerusalem, his father Ṭalāl, ascended to the throne but was in 1952 declared unfit to rule by parliament owing to mental illness. King Ṭalāl abdicated in favour of Ḥussein, who after spending some months at Sandhurst Royal Military College in England, assumed full constitutional powers on May 2, 1953. Ḥussein's policies fostered slow but steady economic progress, though he was forced to depend on significant financial aid from the West. Ḥussein's base of support was his country's indigenous Bedouin tribesmen, with whom he fostered close personal ties.
Debriefing the President: The Interrogation of Saddam Hussein

Debriefing the President presents an astounding, candid portrait of one of our era's most notorious strongmen. John Nixon, the first man to conduct a prolonged interrogation of Hussein after his capture, offers expert insight into the history and mind of America's most enigmatic enemy. In December 2003, after one of the largest, most aggressive manhunts in history, US military forces captured Iraqi president Saddam Hussein near his hometown of Tikrit. Beset by body-double rumors and false alarms during a nine-month search, the Bush administration needed positive identification of the prisoner before it could make the announcement that would rocket around the world. At the time, John Nixon was a senior CIA leadership analyst who had spent years studying the Iraqi dictator. Called upon to make the official ID, Nixon looked for telltale scars and tribal tattoos and asked Hussein a list of questions only he could answer. The man was indeed Saddam Hussein, but as Nixon learned in the ensuing weeks, both he and America had greatly misunderstood just who Saddam Hussein really was. After years of parsing Hussein's leadership from afar, Nixon faithfully recounts his debriefing sessions and subsequently strips away the mythology surrounding an equally brutal and complex man. His account is not an apology, but a sobering examination of how preconceived ideas led Washington policymakers--and the Bush White House--astray. Unflinching and unprecedented, Debriefing the President exposes a fundamental misreading of one of the modern world's most central figures and presents a new narrative that boldly counters the received account.
The authors present a vital analysis of the foreign policy-making processes of the two Bush administrations prior to the attacks on Iraq. In a thorough comparison, they show how both presidents used historical analogies to evaluate information, relied on instinct to formulate decisions, and drew on moral language to justify their choices.

Uncompromising journalist and political commentator Mondo Frazier divulges little-known details and raises unsettling questions about the man elected to the highest position in this country—now with an updated Afterword from the author!Who is Barack Hussein Obama? Nothing in the last fifty years—make that the last 235!—has demonstrated the phenomenon of social mania, the madness of crowds, or the forces of irrational behavior as clearly as the events that led to the election campaign of Barack Hussein Obama. CAN WE AFFORD FOUR MORE YEARS OF LIES? In this astonishing and timely book, uncompromising journalist and political commentator Mondo Frazier raises unsettling questions about the smooth-talking man seeking reelection to the highest position in this country. For the past four years, his liberal lovers have closed their eyes and ears to the truth, refusing to recognize the shameless, deviously calculated, and treacherous propaganda seeping from the White House. Frazier fearlessly rips to shreds what he calls The Obama Narrative™, the crowd-pleasing myths perpetrated by Team Obama and the Corporate Mainstream Media (CMM). Backed by scrupulous research, the truth is in these pages—Obama’s still-missing proof of citizenship, his shady associations with controversial headliners and domestic terrorists, his personal “Hate List,” the broken promises and hypocrisies of his administration, the outrageous public gaffes the CMM has deliberately ignored—as Frazier courageously issues an important warning: Watch what Obama does, not what he says.

In the tradition of In Cold Blood and The Executioner's Song, this haunting, insightful, and surprisingly intimate portrait of Saddam Hussein provides "a brief, but powerful, meditation on the meaning of evil and power" (USA TODAY). The "captivating" (Military Times) The Prisoner in His Palace invites us to take a journey with twelve young American soldiers in the summer of 2006. Shortly after being deployed to Iraq, they learn their assignment: guarding Saddam Hussein in the months before his execution. Living alongside, and caring for, their "high value detainee and regularly transporting him to his raucous trial, many of the men begin questioning some of their most basic assumptions--about the judicial process, Saddam's character, and the morality of modern war. Although the young soldiers' increasingly intimate conversations with the once-feared dictator never lead them to doubt his responsibility for unspeakable crimes, the men do discover surprising new layers to his psyche that run counter to the media's portrayal of him. Woven from firsthand accounts provided by many of the American guards, government officials, interrogators, scholars, spies, lawyers, family members, and victims, The Prisoner in His Palace shows two Saddams coexisting in one person: the defiant tyrant who uses torture and murder as tools, and a shrewd but contemplative prisoner who exhibits surprising affection, dignity, and courage in the face of looming death. In this thought-provoking narrative, Saddam, known as the "man without a conscience," gets many of those around him to examine theirs. "A singular study exhibiting both military duty and human compassion" (Kirkus Reviews), The Prisoner in His Palace grants us "a behind-the-scenes look at history that's nearly impossible to put down...a mesmerizing glimpse into the final moments of a brutal tyrant's life" (BookPage).

Was kann man aus dem Vergleich dieser beiden Pers nlichkeiten herausfiltern? Auch werden beide auf ihre Person selbst durchleuchtet, somit auf ihre R nge eingegangen und im Verh ltnis betrachtet. This book uncovers the true force behind most of the political processes in the Middle East over almost half a century. Through constant confrontations and negotiations with Israel and the Palestinians, under the watchful eye of the United States, the King managed to create a new Middle Eastern nation-state: the Jordanian country and its people. The focus of the book is Hussein's deep concern for the future of the last Hashemite monarchy, together with his own set of personal and ideological convictions, as they impacted on many of his strategic decisions and their contribution to the formation of present-day Jordan.
