Questo libro non e stato scritto da uno scienziato per degli specialisti, ma da un praticone per dei praticanti.
While World War II raged, pioneering aircraft and engine designers were busy developing the world’s first practical jet-powered research aircraft to test and prove the new technology. This book examines the aircraft that paved the way for Germany’s Me 262 and Britain’s Meteor - the world's first jet fighters. Throughout the war, Germany, Italy and Britain engaged in top-secret jet programmes as they raced to develop the airpower of the future. Various experimental aircraft were trialled in order to achieve the goal of producing an effective engine and fighter that could harness the potential of the jet power. These included the German Heinkel He 178 research aircraft and Heinkel He 280 jet fighter prototype, the famed British E.28/39 research aircraft built by Gloster Aircraft as well as the stillborn E.5/42 fighter and E.1/44 Ace fighter prototype, and finally the remarkable Italian Caproni-Campini N.1/CC 2 research aircraft.Illustrated throughout with full-colour artwork and rare photographs, this fascinating study examines the fore-runners to the military jet age.
This is A study of Chinese stars and transnational stardom focussing on the career of Jet Li. Jet Li is arguably the best martial arts actor alive, and his career has crossed numerous cultural and geographic boundaries, from mainland China to Hong Kong, from Hollywood to France. In Jet Li: Chinese Masculinity and Transnational Film Stardom, Sabrina Qiong Yu uses Li as an example to address some intriguing but under examined issues surrounding transnational stardom in general and transnational kung fu stardom in particular. Presenting case studies of audiences' responses to Jet Li films and his star image, this book explores the way in which Li has evolved from a Chinese wuxia hero to a transnational kung fu star in relation to the discourses of genre, gender, sexuality, ethnicity and national identity. By rejecting a text centred approach which prevails in star studies and instead emphasising the role of audiences in constructing star image, this book challenges some established perspectives in the study of Chinese male screen images and martial arts/action cinema.
WHAT MAKES A JET PILOT? In this story you meet Jud, who lives to fly tomorrow's airplanes. Flying with him, you set new records, cross the sound barrier -- you know his exhilarating sensations, but you also know the other side of the coin. WHAT UNMAKES A JET PILOT? It's loss of confidence - the "clanks." Then comes "pilot error," a symptom that can destroy you and a million dollars worth of airplane. Jud had them all and he knew the source -- Chally, his mysterious young wife.
Twenty-eight year old Jet, the former Mossad operative from the eponymous novel JET, must battle insurmountable odds to protect those she loves in a deadly race that stretches from the heartland of Nebraska to the corridors of power in Washington, D.C., from the lurid streets of Bangkok to the deadly jungles of Laos and Myanmar. Fans of Kill Bill, the Bourne trilogy, and 24 will be delighted by this roller-coaster of action, intrigue and suspense.
Conrad is a young guy, but as a captain, he doesn't waste but so much time and has good judgement. Some people have it at 10, and some never get good judgement. Dannie is sad and wants a decent guy and makes money as a whore and Conrad is the last one. Loving him and being dumped changes her. She becomes the lie. Reggie was a fine sympathetic "John". Guys like him have it rough and need it simple with women after being run through the ringer. I changed the title to JET BEACH from Jet Roar Beach because people had trouble saying it. For the real movie I was going to add a Learjet crash. They mostly crash running off the end of the runway in the rain down in South America running drugs. Sometimes the owners get drunk and go out and smash them.

For as long as I can remember, I've had a boring, predictable life. I work at a low-paying job and have ho-hum missionary sex with my long-term boyfriend, who calls me "pear shaped" (and not in a good way). I've never been with more than one man or explored myself sexually. That's for sexy, skinny girls. Girls with exciting lives. Girls I'm not. When a series of events send my life into a tailspin, I find myself at a mansion in the Hollywood Hills, locking eyes with a gorgeous, sexy stranger who sends my heart racing. Our first night together is one I'll never forget. Or the next. Shockingly, he wants to pay me lots of money just to have me as his personal sex goddess. Best of all, he's not the only one. Soon, I'm discovering my sexuality for the first time, caught up in the exciting, glamorous world of high-class escorting. I'm also discovering myself: the independent, sexy, confident woman I was meant to be. Trouble is, I can't give my body without giving my heart. I'm falling in love with more than one man, and they with me. I can't choose just one... Or can I?

Object Lessons is a series of short, beautifully designed books about the hidden lives of ordinary things. Jet lag is a momentary condition resulting from the human body and its inner clock being pitched against the time-leaping effects of modern aviation. But more than that, it is a situation that explains time, technology, and the human body. Jet lag epitomizes the accelerated world we live in. It makes the speed and discomfort of globalization tangible on a personal level. Tracing physiological, temporal, technological, and cultural meanings, Christopher J. Lee’s Jet Lag ponders our intrinsic human limits in the face of modern innovation, revealing the latent costs of global cosmopolitanism today.Object Lessons is published in partnership with an essay series in The Atlantic.
