The author began writing songs and poems at an early age while growing up on a farm in rural Southeastern Kentucky. Elementary and high school teachers encouraged her writing, as did her college professors in later years. Throughout her career, this writing talent was effectively utilized for the benefit of both her own career and for her employers. While material for the poetry often came from personal experiences and feelings, poems were also written based on expressed feelings and experiences of other people. Often, friends and family would request that she write a special poem for them which would portray their own life experiences. Some poems were just written from an idea that came to mind so rapidly that the words were written in shorthand to be transcribed later. The author feels very blessed to have the writing talent and to have the opportunity to share this talent with others.

This book is a compilation of my poems, short stories and the like. Through the years, I have written many poems for my friends and acquaintances to peruse and enjoy. An elderly friend, Mary, chose: 2 Samuel: 23:2: The spirit of the Lord speaks through me; his words are upon my lips.] to describe my writings. She loved to hear the words I would pen on paper and read to her. Along with my other friends whom I would share my thoughts with. When asked to remember them, or repeat some of my poetry, I would tell others that those words were given to me by God and I never could remember what I wrote. But He has given me many, many poems through the years. I hope you will enjoy what I have written. I love to write poetry, but I also like to write short stories. All of which you can find in this book. thanks for listening, kathie PS. I am still writing poetry. Especially little ones for those who are ill and need to be inspired. My one wish is that each of you who read this finds it enlightening and pleasurable. Thanks for listening I was born in the Wells Tannery area in Fulton County, Pennsylvania. When I was eight years old, my father moved us to Norristown, Pennsylvania, to give his younger children better financial opportunities. I grew up there and got married at the age of 21. I married a man who was seven years my senior and had custody of his four children from a previous marriage. We then had two children of our own. After ten years of abuse, I left him and returned to Norristown. I got my job back with Howard Johnson Motor Lodge and settled into making a new life. I have worked as a waitress, secretary, crossing guard for the local police department, court clerk of Montgomery County, clerk for the local county jail, and police secretary in Upper Providence Police Department. I enjoyed all those jobs as well as being an apartment manager for the apartments where I lived. I bought a cottage in Mont Clare, Pennsylvania, in 1998 and retired in 2017. I married a wonderful man from Colombia, and we now live in Kingman, Arizona. Thank you for listening, Kathie

When Kathie was three her birthday gift was a dollhouse. Its a story of "letting go" and the start of "growing up." Help from her dad and two little mice bring surprises to the story and a small mystery is at hand, suitable for anyone to read. The mice are very smart, kind and understanding. The story is age appropriate for children 3 to 13 years old (younger or older), spanning whatever time-line your child or you find appropriate. It has an understandable "twist" at the end that lets the story all come together for a very "happy ending."The author created the story and the illustrations making his story of Kathie's Dollhouse realistic to the reader. Detailed illustrations relate to the storyline and allow a non-reader to follow along as the written words are spoken.

The Dresden Kupferstich-Kabinett (Museum of Prints, Drawings and Photographs of the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden), which has one of the greatest collections of prints and drawings in Europe, has particularly important and unique holdings of the work of the outstanding German graphic artist Käthe Kollwitz (1867–1945). Kollwitz formed a long association with Max Lehrs (1855–1938), a leading art historian and then the director of the Dresden Kupferstich-Kabinett, and Lehrs became Kollwitz’s discerning supporter. From 1898 Lehrs began buying Kollwitz’s work systematically – which, in the Germany of Kaiser Wilhelm II, was a remarkable thing for a man in his position to do, considering that she was a woman artist with marked socialist leanings. Indeed the fi rst work he purchased for the Dresden Museum was her provocative cycle entitled The Weavers’ Revolt. Lehrs went on to purchase more than 200 works for the Kupferstich-Kabinett, taking care to document their evolution. The Kupferstich-Kabinett holds a rich correspondence between Lehrs and the artist, which has been newly researched and analysed. Since Lehrs collected contemporary graphic art internationally – for example Whistler, Munch and Toulouse-Lautrec – the signifi cance he attached to Kollwitz’s work is all the more telling: this renowned print scholar called her “one the greatest talents in the fi eld of the graphic arts”. The exhibition – and especially the catalogue – tell the circumstances and story of the earliest public holding of Kollwitz’s work to be established and of Kollwitz’s full development of her major themes – of war and death, of motherhood and love, and not least of self-portraiture, one of the most fascinating aspects of her oeuvre. This relationship between artist and curator was and is exemplary for its time and our time, while the historical perspective and contextualization of these newly re-examined and freshly assessed works reveals new aspects of the artist, who should be much better known in the English-speaking world.

ColorForm is the first major monograph on the work of New York sculptor Kathy Butterly (born 1963). Encompassing 60 sculptures and 20 drawings from throughout Butterly's career, all of which are reproduced here, it focuses mainly on the last ten years of her work. Butterly is well known for her sculptures that challenge the conventions of ceramic tradition through oblique figurations of the body, with shapes that evoke mouths, feet and genitalia. Her work, which stands in historical dialogue with that of Ken Price, Viola Frey and Robert Arneson, engages with the politics of 20th-century femininity even as it leans ever closer to abstraction. The works collected here chart the evolution of Butterly's sensibilities and philosophical stance, tracking the development of her highly personal yet immediate and accessible ceramic language from explorations of the body to personhood and autobiography.

It was Christmas Eve 1959. I remember as a little girl, the tree was gigantic. The scent was overwhelming. The needles would tickle me like a porcupine. The tree had lights-lots of lights- large lights and lots of silver tinsel hanging from the limbs. The tinsel made the tree shine. There were large, brightly colored balls attached with big red ribbons. Large and small packages wrapped with gold and silver ribbons surrounded the tree.

Late one evening, Kathy's Grandpa came to our house to see if my friend, 14-year-old Kathy was there. She wasn't, and he said she was missing. Over the next weeks, months, and years, I watched as the entire community joined in fear for their young girls and searched for my missing friend. Detectives search for the truth and hunt for the older man Kathy was last with. Facts become a tangled web of lies. There were more questions than answers as they continued the hunt for Kathy. I went to work at the local police department later that year, and over the years, followed along with the detective's investigation. As the investigation continues, the story of what happened to Kathy that night slowly comes to light. But, as circumstantial evidence piles up, the question remains: Where is Kathy? This tale covering years is deceptively fast-paced, drawing the reader into the investigation and the quest to bring Kathy home. Finally, as the investigation comes full circle, I found myself in the woods with the man who took her and helped to bring Kathy home.
