Cleg Kelly: Arab of the city (1896), By S. R. Crockett (Original Version): Samuel Rutherford Crockett
This story of Scottish street child of over 100 years ago---the adventures of a true Scottish hero---Cleg Kelly was dedicated to J. M Barrie: "With the Hand of a Comrade and the Heart of a Friend" when it was originally published in 1896......... Samuel Rutherford Crockett (24 September 1859 - 16 April 1914), who published under the name "S. R. Crockett", was a Scottish novelist. He was born at Duchrae, Balmaghie, Kirkcudbrightshire, on 24 September 1859, the illegitimate son of dairymaid Annie Crocket. He was raised on his grandfather's Galloway farm, won a bursary to Edinburgh University in 1876, and graduated from there during 1879.After some years of travel, he became in 1886 minister of Penicuik. During that year he produced his first publication, Dulce Cor (Latin: Sweet Heart), a collection of verse under the pseudonym Ford Brereton. He eventually abandoned the Free Church ministry for full-time novel-writing in 1895.The success of J. M. Barrie and the Kailyard school of sentimental, homey writing had already created a demand for stories in Lowland Scots, when Crockett published his successful story of The Stickit Minister in 1893.It was followed by a rapidly produced series of popular novels frequently featuring the history of Scotland or his native Galloway. Crockett made considerable sums of money from his writing and was a friend and correspondent of R. L. Stevenson, but his later work has been criticised as being over-prolific and feebly sentimental.Crockett's connection with Kailyard is now beginning to be acknowledged as nebulous at best, as evidenced by a re-appraisal of the whole Kailyard concept by writers such as Andrew Nash.In 1900, Crockett wrote a booklet published by the London camera manufacturer, Newman & Guardia, comparing cameras favourably to pen and pencil and explaining how he encountered the N and G advertisement.Crockett was well travelled in Europe and beyond, spending time in most European countries and he wrote several novels of European history including The Red Axe (1898), A Tatter of Scarlet (1913), and the non fiction The Adventurer in Spain (1903) which holds its own against Robert Louis Stevenson's travel writing. He died in France on 16 April 1914. The subsequent outbreak of the First World War meant a delay in his remains being buried in his home kirkyard at Balmaghie. A memorial to him was erected in Laurieston by public subscription in 1932.........

A work of historical fiction inspired by the life of Colorado Territorial lawman, Rankin Scott Kelly. In the 1850s Kelly traveled west on the Santa Fe trail and settled in what was then Kansas Territory, later to become Colorado Territory, making his home in the small mining town of Colorado City. Having been appointed the county's first sheriff, this work gathers much from the actual wild west exploits recorded of this lawman's extraordinary life and times. A fascinating read and a fine example of America's continuing expansion toward its manifest destiny in the American West.

Outpost Kelly

Jack R. Siewert

In the second year of the Korean War, Jack Siewert commanded a platoon of five M-46 tanks. Temporarily assigned to provide fire support for an infantry battalion on the front, he eventually found himself in the midst of intense fighting for a relatively unknown and unimportant hill, code named Outpost Kelly. Those four days of battle against Chinese forces form the heart of this memoir, which is unique in its focus on the hill fighting that dominated much of the Korean War. Trained to take advantage of his tanks' mobility, his orders - to provide direct fire support for advancing infantry - along with the mountainous terrain and the torrential monsoon rains that created shin-deep fields of impenetrable mud, forced him to abandon doctrine and improvise. Siewert's platoon played a key role in allowing members of the 15th Infantry to retake Outpost Kelly, and he offers an excellent analysis of how theory and experience come together in a point-of-the-spear military situation. ""Outpost Kelly"" also paints a fascinating picture of the type of fighting, often overlooked, that characterized the second and third years of the Korean War. With truce talks proceeding in Panmunjom, both sides fought to claim incremental pieces of real estate along the demarcation line between North and South. In the grand scheme of the war, the battle for Outpost Kelly might not have meant much. But for the 3rd Infantry Division, and the men, like Jack Siewert, who fought there, it was the entire focal point of the war during the last four days of July, 1952.

R.R.R.: A Unique Plan for Economic Recovery and Job Creation!
Donald Trump would do well selecting the RRR plan as his very own. I liked the ring of former Presidential candidate Herman Cain's presentation of his 999 plan back in 2012 plan so much that when I developed my top three bullets for my US Senate campaign against Robert P. Casey Jr. in Pennsylvania in the fall 2011, six months before the Primary election, and all three began with the word reduce, the RRR plan was conceived. The full title of this book of course is RRR: A Unique Plan for Economic Recovery and Job Creation. Along the way to a full set of issues that my campaign addresses, there are an additional three sets of 3 R's that are also fleshed out in this book.Unlike the Herman Cain plan, the RRR focuses on many more areas that need to be addressed for us to turn around our economy and stimulate job creation. Cain's 999 plan addresses a major change in the tax structure. The RRR plan, on the other hand includes taxes but it reaches into critical areas that are impeding economic growth today such as regulations, immigration, and spending. Additionally, the RRR plan suggests that we alter our pure capitalism system into one that is more mercantilist. Jobs are hard to come by anywhere in the world today including the United States. Even some liberals are starting to say that "you can blame the government for that." In this day and age, you can blame the government for lots more than that, and nobody would think you were kidding.Despite no jobs for anybody else, the US government is growing in terms of employees at a record pace. This is not part of the solution. This is part of the problem. While government grows, there is less and less real work even for government workers. And, so many agencies, even those that originally did good work in their functionary role as well as their advisory role to the President, have branched into areas that now hurt the economy rather than help it. The more of them there are unfortunately, the greater the drag on private sector jobs and the economy as a whole. Why did I write this book? Our economy has stopped working. Our financial institutions have been forced to lessen their standards while the taxpayer has become the prop between any of government's favorite businesses and failure. The United States once represented rugged individualism in all we did and only the strong survived. America became the strongest of nations because of that "manly" philosophy. Our government today seems like it is against strength as it attempts, through socialistic, progressive, and Marxist principles to create a society of wimps, in which the American dream can be little more than a handout. Businesses have obviously decided that the US is not worth it anymore. Despite government's official stance, it has been more than complicit in helping business execute its destructive plans to rid the US of major industry and suffer no consequences. The RRR plan addresses all of the sticky areas where corruption reins and corporations have been able to undermine what is good for America and Americans. The RRR plan is good for the economy. It is good for the people. It is good for jobs. And, for those corporations that want to sign up to be American-centric, it is good for corporations. It is the solution balm that offers a gutsy, unique, real, and workable path to get America back on its feet. There is nothing like it anywhere else. All we need is the resolve for the RRR plan to make us successful.I hope you enjoy this book and I hope that it inspires you to take action to help change the way you think about corporations, unions, government, taxes, spending, immigration, mercantilism and whole host of other items that can help America survive this major recession. I hope you digest the entire RRR plan, be willing to adopt it, and add to it your own positive notions, and please tell Donald Trump this type of plan can help him in his desire to "Make America Great Again ."
