Fish farming, like other aquaculture activities, plays a relevant social role in the country directly and indirectly. It involves thousands of people in its production chain, from the production of inputs, through production and distribution, to the arrival of the final consumer. Thinking about contributing to science and socialising the results of research developed in the Western Amazon focused on fish production, as well as strengthening this growing production chain, we organised a work that contemplated aspects of management, health, genetics and nutrition in which the interlocutors can generally implement production on their properties. This first edition has four chapters. The first chapter deals with the boom in fish production in Brazil, especially in Rond nia, and the government actions that have boosted this production. The second chapter addresses the panorama of the breeding of the Tamabaqui fish species (Colossoma macropomum). The third chapter deals with the rearing of tambaquis in intensive systems in net tanks and the fourth, weaves a network of discussions about fishing in the state of Rond nia.

La piscicoltura, come altre attivit di acquacoltura, svolge un ruolo sociale rilevante nel Paese, direttamente e indirettamente. Coinvolge migliaia di persone nella sua catena produttiva, dalla produzione degli input, attraverso la produzione e la distribuzione, fino all'arrivo del consumatore finale. Pensando di contribuire alla scienza e alla socializzazione dei risultati della ricerca sviluppata nell'Amazzonia occidentale incentrata sulla produzione ittica, nonch di rafforzare questa filiera in crescita, abbiamo organizzato un'opera che contemplasse gli aspetti di gestione, salute, genetica e nutrizione in cui gli interlocutori possono generalmente implementare la produzione nelle loro propriet . Questa prima edizione composta da quattro capitoli. Il primo capitolo tratta del boom della produzione ittica in Brasile, soprattutto in Rond nia, e delle azioni governative che hanno incentivato questa produzione. Il secondo capitolo affronta il panorama dell'allevamento della specie ittica Tamabaqui (Colossoma macropomum). Il terzo capitolo tratta dell'allevamento dei tambaqui in sistemi intensivi in vasche di rete e il quarto intreccia una rete di discussioni sulla pesca nello Stato di Rond nia.
