Ann and Mary Ann are married. They are both neuroscientists and they both witnessed deeply traumatic events when they were young. Now, in the carefully ordered worlds of their marriage and laboratory—which is linked like the two lobes of the brain—Ann and Mary Ann care for, protect, and reflect one another. But when Ann begins to study Fran, a tile artist who is unable to recognize her husband after he commits an unthinkably violent act, Ann and Mary Ann must reckon with what it really means to see and be present to another person. Ann, Fran, Mary Ann is a deeply reflective, reflecting, refracting play about trauma, God, patterns, and the way they live in our bodies, our minds, and acts of love.

Dr. Mary Ann Kibler (1901-2005) from very humble beginnings as an economic refugee from Italy in 1906, she made her way into the nursing profession in Warren PA. She then worked for both Doctors Charles and John Kibler at their practice in Corry PA beginning in 1926 and eventually married Dr. John Kibler in 1931. Nurse Mary continued the practice until 1951 when Dr. John Kibler died. She then decided to become a medical doctor. At her age and at that time this was a nearly impossible task, but she did it.After returning home, she began her practice in Corry and focused on nutrition as a way to better health. She was very much ahead of her time. Her practice recognized the over-prescription of pharmaceutical drugs and generally recommended the use of nutritional supplements with a healthy diet. When women mayors were almost unheard of, she became the Mayor of the City Corry from 1974 to 1978.

Set in the form of a series of confessional essays, The Sins of the Cities of the Plain tells the tales of Jack Saul, "Mary-Ann", sold to one of his clients, Mr. Cambon, for approximately 20 per session. Among his fellow entertainers, wealthy patrons and a sappho or two, "Mary" reveals in graphically sumptuously graphic details the many modes and methods of how is taken. From group menages to intimate ruttings, no practice is left to the imagination. One of the first works to contain more-or-less exclusively homo-erotic encounters and published by the William Lazenby who gave us the uncompromisingly risque periodical The Pearl, this gem of once-suppressed literature will make a fine addition to any collection of vintage erotica. Very naughty indeed.
