Memories of A Man With Wanderlust

I am not a writer, just a simple man. I started my life with nothing and didn't have a steady job until my mid-twenties. I was able to satisfy my wanderlust by traveling across this beautiful country and earning pay along the way. I have met hundreds of people that I can call my friends. I didn't just visit states, I explored them. I've traveled the main roads and I've traveled the back roads. I have had the pleasure of wedding two beautiful women. Scottie Potter was my first wife, who was with me throughout my earlier travels and is still my friend. She was the mother of my only child, Damon Martin Potter. She is also friends with my present wife, Faye. Scottie is now married to Warren West of Houston, Texas, and I also call him my friend. Faye Dickens Potter is my present wife, my last wife, and my rock. We have been married for seventeen years, and I hope we are married for seventeen more. I had a 40-year career in the printing business that was very gratifying.

A slyly hilarious bedtime picture book by Saturday Night Live actor Bobby Moynihan. Everyone knows that sheep are boring. That's why people count them to fall asleep. Right? Don't be so sure... Actor Bobby Moynihan's (SNL) debut picture book proves sheep are anything but snoozeworthy, introducing a cast of the weirdest, wackiest, funniest sheep you've ever seen. From riding jetpacks to prancing on the moon, it's safe to say these might be the LEAST boring sheep you've ever encountered. Julie Rowan-Zoch's lovably goofy artwork pairs with a breathlessly silly text to make this the perfect read-aloud--but don't be surprised if the giggles keep you up long past bedtime

A bighearted and moving debut about a wry retired schoolteacher whose decade-old secret threatens to come to light and send shockwaves through her small Texas town. Billington, Texas, is a place where nothing changes. Well, almost nothing. For the first time in nearly four decades, Mary Alice Roth is not getting ready for the first day of school at Billington High. A few months into her retirement--or, district mandated exile as she calls it--Mary Alice does not know how to fill her days. The annual picnic is coming up, but that isn't nearly enough since the menu never changes and she had the roles mentally assigned weeks ago. At least there's Ellie, who stops by each morning for coffee and whose reemergence in Mary Alice's life is the one thing soothing the sting of retirement. Mary Alice and Ellie were a pair since the day Ellie moved in next door. That they both were single mothers--Mary Alice widowed, Ellie divorced--with sons the same age was a pleasant coincidence, but they were forever linked when they lost the boys, one right after the other. Years later, the two are working their way back to a comfortable friendship. But when Mary Alice's sister arrives on her doorstep with a staggering piece of news, it jeopardizes the careful shell she's built around her life. The whole of her friendship with Ellie is put at risk, the fabric of a place as steadfast as Billington is questioned, and the unflappable, knotty fixture that is Mary Alice Roth might have to change after all.

How can you be happy? Who can show you the path to happiness? Pastor Bobby Jamieson shatters our illusions of what will make us happy and blazes a surprisingly simple trail to resilient joy. "Bobby Jamieson brings an ancient text to bear on the challenge of living fully. The result is fresh, direct, and enlivening."--Matthew B. Crawford, New York Times bestselling author of Shop Class as Soul Craft Does it feel like you should be happy, and want to be happy, and try to be happy, but somehow you just can't be happy? One way to be unhappy is not getting what you most want. Another way is to get all you could possibly want...only to discover that everything is not enough. The writer of Ecclesiastes did it all. He had money, education, possessions, sex, and power--everything the modern world promises will bring joy--and yet he was never satisfied. And from his discontent, we benefit and find a surprisingly simple trail to lasting joy. In this thoughtful exploration of Ecclesiastes, which speaks to all of us who feel restless and unfulfilled, Pastor Bobby Jamieson: - teaches us how placing life on an eternal horizon empowers us to experience joy no matter our circumstances- puts Ecclesiastes into dialogue with profoundly insightful critics of modernity to show that life in the modern West is a conveyor belt toward burnout- helps us dismantle our false hopes one by one, clearing ground for true satisfaction Poetic yet straightforward, philosophical yet accessible, Everything Is Never Enough frees us to stop grasping at broken promises and start receiving life as a gift of God's grace.

From the beloved author of The Old Place comes a tender, funny, and fresh novel about a gay writer in New York City whose life is irrevocably altered, and then again thirty years later. In 1992, on his thirtieth birthday, Artie Anderson meets the man who will change his life. Artie spends his days at a tedious advertising job, finding relief in the corner of New York City he can call his own, even as the queer community is still being ravaged by HIV. But when his birthday celebration brings Artie and his friends to his favorite bar, a chance encounter with Abe, an uptight lawyer and Artie's opposite in almost every way, pushes Artie to want, and to ask for, more for himself. Thirty years later, Artie is stunned when Halle and Vanessa, Abe's daughter and ex-wife, announce they are moving across the country. Artie has built a lovely, if small, life, but their departure makes Artie realize that he might be lonelier than he previously thought. When a surprising injury pushes Artie into the hands of GALS, the local center for queer seniors, a rambunctious group of elders insist on taking him under their wing. Alternating between both timelines, Four Squares is an intimate look at what it means to find community at any age. With humor and compassion, it honors the enduring power of queer friendship, its history, and how essential it is to keep those stories alive.
