Does it feel like you're stuck in your addiction because it's all you've ever known? Are you struggling to move past hurtful experiences wondering if you'll ever feel loved? In her book, Transformed, Dallas Freeman shares how she overcame the hurt, guilt, and shame from years of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse as well as the choices she made. Before her own transformation, she thought life was always going to be miserable and that she was destined to repeat the cycles of abuse and addiction she experienced. Then it happened-Dallas discovered there is life and love beyond abuse, and that it is possible to live as a survivor, not a victim. Through this story you will learn that, if you're willing to face your pain, you can experience true healing, break the cycle of addiction and abuse, make choices that build a better future, and live a life full of love, joy and purpose. Are you ready to be transformed?

"To say Dallas Hembra has a way with words, is an understatement. Kaleidoscope is well-rounded and colorfully varied. It is thought provoking, raw, and passionate, awakening the senses to things we may have taken for granted. A joy to read."--Renee Salvatori, Author of Open Your Heart to the True You Random meanderings of women's prose intended to touch the heart, tickle the funny bone, and awaken the imagination. And in some cases, give pain a voice. Kaleidoscope by Dallas Hembra, unlike many poetry chapbooks, is not theme driven. This poetry collection is a multifaceted look through the prism of life's resplendent observation tower. Hembra's poems explore the mountainous terrains of love and heartache, giggles at the ridiculous, stokes our anger, and acknowledges our fears. Kaleidoscope randomly selects pieces of our puzzles and arranges them in a panoramic view that shapes our shared experiences. We hope you enjoy Hembra's haikus and other poems.

But across the miles, 18-year-old Tegan Rossi remains connected to local Kai Kapule, her best friend from childhood. Now, Tegan finds herself alone and confused about how she got to the Big Island. With no wallet, no cell phone, purse, or plane ticket, Tegan struggles to piece together what happened. She must have come to surprise-visit Kai. Right? As the teens grow even closer, Tegan pushes aside her worries and gets swept away in the vacation of her dreams. But each morning, Tegan startles awake from nightmares that become more difficult to ignore. Something is eerily amiss. Why is there a strange gap in her memory? Why can't she reach her parents or friends from home? And what's with the mysterious hourglass tattoo over her heart? Kai promises to help Tegan figure out what is going on. But the answers they find only lead to more questions. As the week unfolds, Tegan will experience the magic of first love, the hope of second chances, and the bittersweet joy and grief of being human.
This collaboration came to be as the result of 35 years of friendship, and then the 2020 pandemic. During the stay-at-home period, I started to collect and catalog all the poems I'd written over the last 40 years, and I was calling it Dallas Ann's Anthology. My good friend Eileen took up drawing during the pandemic, and I was so impressed with her new hobby, I bought her first drawing, "Grounded," which is now the cover art and title of this book While Eileen kept drawing, I continued working on my oeuvre. Contained herein is the melding of my poetry with Eileen's artwork for your reading and viewing pleasure. Thank you, Eileen, for prettying up my poetry collection.
Poems written during the 2020 pandemic for posterity's sake
