In an age where social media defines norms, dream careers take longer to obtain, and love being complicated to find, Darron Vaun struggles to make his way. Luckily, his love of rhymes and Hip-Hop is an outlet for him to vent. From writing about heartbreaks during and after college to frustrations with his first job at Comcast his pieces have helped him maintain sanity. But as he approaches his 30th birthday, Darron becomes depressed, feeling he should be farther towards his goals by now. This "young" life crisis however inspires him to reflect on his journey in poetry form using his vulnerability to turn his dreams into reality. With much wisdom gained, and drive to push his talents, Darron wrote "Reflections as a Writer: My Roaring Twenties" discussing his trials and triumphs in the last decade. The ultimate message he hopes to send to all readers, especially millennials, is that you can overcome any situation you're in by changing your mindset from thinking where you "should" be to where you "desire" to be. He notes that everyone has a path of their own to follow so do not allow anything to alter your pace. His poems were written over a span of 11 years between 2008 and 2019. You can follow him on various social media platforms including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn at @dvaunj for video content, poetry, and other creative writings. African American Catholics, though small in number and historically the targets of racial intolerance, are now the backbone of the church. The vast majority of African American Catholics do not perceive racial marginalization and intolerance in the church. African American Catholics are among the strongest religious identifiers in the church, while whites show a more fragile Catholic identity. The Catholic church may have finally overcome its racist past for the vast majority of African American Catholics, but serious concerns remain for white Catholics. Based on data from a national religion survey, this book explores religious attitudes from an African American Catholic perspective.

Statistics has developed in parallel with the advances of technological and social change. Informed by the work of the Cambridge Mathematics team, this book outlines a new pedagogical approach to teaching statistics. It frames the interconnectedness of the subject around the experiences that students should have, rather than the specific techniques required. The book provides numerous examples and suggestions that teachers can incorporate in the classroom to help improve the way students understand statistics.
Reading the Bible Theologically

Reading the Bible Theologically

Darren Sarisky

Theological interpretation of the Bible is one of the most significant debates within theology today. Yet what exactly is theological reading? Darren Sarisky proposes that it requires identification of the reader via a theological anthropology; an understanding of the text as a collection of signs; and reading the text with a view toward engaging with what it says of transcendence. Accounts of theological reading do not often give explicit focus to the place of the reader, but this work seeks to redress this neglect. Sarisky examines Augustine's approach to the Bible and how his theological insights into the reader and the text generate an aim for interpretation, which is fulfilled by fitting reading strategies. He also engages with Spinoza, showing that theological exegesis contrasts not with approaches that take history seriously, but with naturalistic approaches to reading.

University dinosaur courses provide an influential venue for developing aptitude beyond knowledge of terrestrial Mesozoic reptiles. Passion for dinosaurs, when properly directed, can trigger interest in science and be used to develop critical thinking skills. Examination of dinosaur paleontology can develop competence in information analysis, perception of flawed arguments, recognition of persuasion techniques, and application of disciplined thought processes. Three methods for developing critical thought are outlined in this Element. The first uses dinosaur paleontology to illustrate logical fallacies and flawed arguments. The second is a method for evaluating primary dinosaur literature by students of any major. The final example entails critique of dinosaur documentaries based on the appearance of dinosaurs and the disconnect between scientific fact and storytelling techniques. Students are owed more than dinosaur facts; lecturers should foster a set of skills that equips students with the tools necessary to be perceptive citizens and science advocates.
