Devil in the Basement reveals the shocking truth about my family. I learned about the murders, bombings, and devil worship when I visited my ancestors' hometown of Fairmont, West Virginia. As a former private eye, I investigated what had happened and even ventured into the eerie basement where the satanic rituals had occurred. The story begins in 1928 when thousands of Ku Klux Klan members march through this sleepy town. My great uncle Jal's passions were ignited that day, as were those of my grandfather Tucker, who changed his Italian name to "sound white" with hopes of escaping poverty and racism, and of becoming a U.S. Senator. Meanwhile, my great-grandmother set up a criminal enterprise in the back barn, and my great aunt was hauled off to an insane asylum before becoming the mistress of a Detroit mobster. But this story is not just about my family. It is also about their creepy neighbor Ernie, who had a ghoulish, life-sized doll. He abused his wives and dabbled in his favorite pastime: evil. He liked evil. He was creative when it came to evil. He was all about evil.Devil in the Basement is a story of love and horror, racism and hope, of Christian piety and satanic ritual. It is a book that shines a light on one of the most ghastly real life incidents in West Virginia history. It is a story you will never forget.

Demin/Remin in Preventive Dentistry: Demineralization by Foods, Acids, and Bacteria, and How to Counter Using Remineralization
Despite significant progress in the management of oral health, tooth decay remains stubbornly widespread and resilient. Complicating this further, there remain gaps in clinical use and knowledge involving fluoride and remineralization therapies. To help address these problems, Demin/Remin in Preventive Dentistry explores demineralization and remineralization processes by synthesizing a variety of data and research to produce a fresh perspective from one who has devoted significant effort to improving remineralization therapies in preventive dentistry. The source material for this book is fairly diverse, with more than 900 references called forth from various fields of study, including medicine, dentistry, chemistry, biology, materials science, food science, along with reports and articles from journalists, and nonprofit and government organizations. Divided into 10 distinct chapters, the topics discussed include oral bacteria, foods and drinks, acids, pH, sound and demineralized enamel structure, dental therapeutics used throughout history, fluoride and various fluoride formats (including toothpastes, varnishes and more), calcium phosphate systems, remineralization processes, and perspectives related to minimally invasive dentistry.Global tooth decay remains a major socioeconomic burden, commanding the need for improved oral health strategies. Demin/Remin in Preventive Dentistry provides a fresh look at an old (and largely preventable ) problem by reviewing known information, as well as aspects not addressed in other dentistry books. Demin/Remin in Preventive Dentistry will appeal especially to those with a 'prevention-first' mindset, as well as researchers and clinicians passionate about delivering or improving oral health benefits for those of us both young and young at heart.
