Observations on the Justificative Memorial of the Court of London. Paris, Printed by the Royal Authority
The 18th century was a wealth of knowledge, exploration and rapidly growing technology and expanding record-keeping made possible by advances in the printing press. In its determination to preserve the century of revolution, Gale initiated a revolution of its own: digitization of epic proportions to preserve these invaluable works in the largest archive of its kind. Now for the first time these high-quality digital copies of original 18th century manuscripts are available in print, making them highly accessible to libraries, undergraduate students, and independent scholars.Delve into what it was like to live during the eighteenth century by reading the first-hand accounts of everyday people, including city dwellers and farmers, businessmen and bankers, artisans and merchants, artists and their patrons, politicians and their constituents. Original texts make the American, French, and Industrial revolutions vividly contemporary.++++The below data was compiled from various identification fields in the bibliographic record of this title. A philosophically-charged compendium of original literature including aphorisms, poems, and prose. Between its aphorisms inspired by Nietzsche, poems inspired by James Kavanaugh and Joseph Brodsky, and short stories inspired by theatrical absurdism, this book posits a philosophical method for appraising and justifying a-scientific beliefs in an increasingly scientific world. It attemps to do so by appealing to the sociobiological utility of and existential freedoms in privately-held beliefs. It offers century-long standstills in philosophy--e.g. the debate over the existence of God--an alternate means of operation and resolution that, in the author's words, ""evolves such debates from black-and-white, standard-definition into UHD 4K color.""

Peter makes night-time calls on the Darlings' house in Bloomsbury, listening in on Mrs. Mary Darling's bedtime stories by the open window. One night Peter is spotted and, while trying to escape, he loses his shadow. On returning to claim it, Peter wakes Mary's daughter, Wendy Darling. Wendy succeeds in re-attaching his shadow to him, and Peter learns that she knows lots of bedtime stories. He invites her to Neverland to be a mother to his gang, the Lost Boys, children who were lost in Kensington Gardens. Wendy agrees, and her brothers John and Michael go along. Their magical flight to Neverland is followed by many adventures. The children are blown out of the air by a cannon and Wendy is nearly killed by the Lost Boy Tootles. Peter and the Lost Boys build a little house for Wendy to live in while she recuperates (a structure that, to this day, is called a Wendy House.) Soon John and Michael adopt the ways of the Lost Boys...

..of hunting bears, and if Bruin had only known how powerless his persecutors really were, he would, no doubt, have freed himself from them in short order. He was too badly frightened, however, to perceive the truth, and did his best to keep out of range of the menacing cudgels, while all the time the village drew nearer, where his fate awaited him. Raoul would have liked very much to reach the village ahead of the bear, but although he ran his very best, he was left well in the rear, and when he came up the big black creature had already been dispatched. "You poor fellow " said Raoul as he passed his hand over the rich, glossy black fur, a qualm of pity succeeding the lust of the chase now that the excitement was over. "You did your best to get away from us, but we were too many for you. It was not just a fair fight, was it? Several other bears had been secured, and when the hunt was over, and the Indians had all gathered again, some strange ceremonies took place.

Just when you thought you had it all...... It can be ripped from you in the most devastating way. Will you be prepared to fight? -- It started without trust. Passion. Lust. An all-consuming need; that was all we had in the beginning. Lies. Betrayal. Deceit. We moved past it all and fell in love anyway. Over ten years later, with a family of our own, our little world was perfect. Happy. But then that happiness faded away when she came into our lives. No control. No power. Just heartbreak and unwanted submission. We were forced to our knees at the sight of her. The words falling from her lips were like nails digging at our soul because we knew. We would have to go through hell to get out of this. And even then, I wasn't sure if it would be enough.

Peter PanA novel by J. M. Barrie on a free-spirited and mischievous young boy who can fly and never grows upJ. M. BarriePeter Pan is a fictional character created by Scottish novelist and playwright J. M. Barrie. A free-spirited and mischievous young boy who can fly and never grows up, Peter Pan spends his never-ending childhood having adventures on the mythical island of Neverland as the leader of the Lost Boys, interacting with fairies, pirates, mermaids, Native Americans, and occasionally ordinary children from the world outside Neverland.Peter Pan has become a cultural icon symbolizing youthful innocence and escapism. In addition to two distinct works by Barrie, the character has been featured in a variety of media and merchandise, both adapting and expanding on Barrie's works. These include a 1953 animated film, a 2003 dramatic/live-action film, a television series and many other works. J. M. Barrie first used Peter Pan as a character in a section of The Little White Bird (1902), an adult novel where he appears as a seven-day-old baby in the chapter entitled Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens. Following the success of the 1904 play, Barrie's publishers, Hodder and Stoughton, extracted chapters 13-18 of The Little White Bird and republished them in 1906 under the title Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens, with the addition of illustrations by Arthur Rackham. He returned to the character of Peter Pan as the centre of his stage play entitled Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up, which premiered on 27 December 1904 in London. Barrie later adapted and expanded the play's story line as a novel, published in 1911 as Peter and Wendy.

J. M. Carroll's excellent history of the Baptist church and movement illustrates events over the centuries, with references to a chart appended at the beginning of the book. First released in 1931, Carroll's superb church history attracted great praise for successfully summarizing all major events and turning points in the history of Baptism. The author sets out his work chronologically, from the time Jesus Christ lived and died upon the cross in 25 - 35 A.D., to the initial manifestations of organised Christianity, its growth during the Dark Ages, the Reformation, and finally the 19th and 20th centuries. Named ""The trail of blood,"" for the amount of hatred and persecution Baptists had endured over the ages, this book sets out to demonstrate how Baptism grew from a small niche of believers into an accepted movement firmly in the mainstream of Christian faith. Carroll identifies and explains a number of violent persecutions by the Roman Catholic Church, which disagreed broadly with Baptist doctrine.

As a young subaltern in the Coldstream Guards, the author lost his arm at Dunkirk and was captured but eventually escaped via Lille, Paris, Marseilles, Spain and Gibraltar. He describes the fierce fighting outside Dunkirk, his captivity, escape and extraordinary life in Vichy France, before the Germans controlled it. His fellow escapees and the French who sheltered them make a rich cast of characters. On return to London, Langley is recruited into the Secret Service and told to organise the safe return of allied soldiers, sailors and airmen who had succeeded in either escaping from or evading the Germans. He describes the astonishing courage and sacrifice of the heroic underground operators who ran these escape lines across Belgium and France. Despite betrayal and infiltration from Germans, collaborators and traitors, over 3000 men were safely brought back to fight another day. Langley and Airey Neave, who joined him after his historic home run from Colditz, had to wrestle with rival secret organisations for resources to carry out their vital work. All this and more is brilliantly described in this gripping, beautifully written book.
