These poems grapple with how romantic relationships, both gay and straight, are defined--and what we gain or lose from these definitions. The poems reflect on the experience not only of the poet, but also of wives throughout history, particularly as represented in classic literary texts, from Geoffrey Chaucer to Joan Didion.Fitzpatrick's "The Genius of Wives of Geniuses I Have Sat With," for example, is inspired by a paragraph in Gertrude Stein's The Autobiography of Alice B. Toklas, while the fragments of the central poetry sequence, "Mr. &," draw their language from the final chapters of books by Louisa May Alcott, Jane Austen, Charlotte Bront , Emily Bront , Kate Chopin, Joan Didion, Marguerite Duras, Sheila Heti, Susanna Kaysen, Sylvia Plath, Rebecca West, Edith Wharton, and Virginia Woolf. "The Definition Of" comprises various Google results for different manipulations of the phrase "marriage is," and his poem "Vow" reimagines what is thought to be Anne Boleyn's last letter to her husband Henry VIII, written while she was awaiting execution at the Tower of London.Together, these poems constitute an extended meditation on what comes after the ampersand in the phrase that serves as the title of the book: "Mr. &."Jameson Fitzpatrick is the author of the chapbook Morrisroe: Erasures (89plus/LUMA Publications, 2014). His poems have appeared in Best New Poets 2017, The New Yorker, Poetry, and elsewhere. A 2017 NYSCA/NYFA Fellow in Poetry, Fitzpatrick lives in New York City and teaches writing at New York University.

"It was like Season 2 of my favourite series got released and I had to binge-watch it." Cait Gordon, Author of Life in the 'Cosm"You will laugh and cry and curse and cheer along with them. And I promise, you will fall in love - as I have."Dava Gamble, Author of Jade Ascent and Jade Bestowed"A frothy, big-hearted, romantic delight, with grit and steel at its core, and told in every colour of love in the rainbow."Stephen Graham King, Author of Soul's Blood"Jamieson takes the big-and little-moments of life and infuses them with such a wonderfully queer reality. The older aren't necessarily wiser, the younger aren't necessarily the go-getters, and the end result is a sense of living, breathing chosen family that charms." Heart attacks, a leading cause of death globally, may hold less fear in the future thanks to advancements in technology. Researchers are exploring exciting possibilities for repairing and regenerating damaged heart muscle after an attack. One approach utilizes messenger RNA (mRNA) technology, similar to the mRNA vaccines. Injected directly into the injured area, these mRNA strands instruct surrounding cells to produce proteins that promote healing and growth. Studies in mice have shown remarkable recovery of heart function after this treatment. Another area of exploration involves gene editing with CRISPR. This powerful tool could potentially modify genes within heart cells, enhancing their ability to repair themselves or even convert other cell types into functional heart muscle. These technologies are still in early stages, requiring further testing and refinement before human trials. However, the potential for a minimally invasive, tech-driven approach to heart attack repair is a beacon of hope. It could significantly improve patient outcomes, reduce reliance on procedures like bypass surgery, and offer a new lease on life for those affected by heart attacks.
