This book is an analysis of the philosophical chapters of the Tattvarthadhigama (TA), a foundational text for the Jaina tradition and the first text that presented the Jaina worldview in a clear and systematic way. The book also includes the first English translation of its oldest commentary, the Tattvarthadhigamabha?ya (TABh).Focusing on the philosophical sections of the TA and TABh, which deviate from the traditional views and introduce several new concepts for the Jaina tradition, the analysis suggests that the TA and the TABh were written by different authors, and that both texts contain several historical layers. The texts reflect aspects of the concurrent intellectual movements, and the textual analysis includes comparisons with the views of other schools, such as the Nyaya and Vaise?ika traditions, and offers an in-depth analysis of the philosophical content of these works. The appendix contains an English translation from the original Sanskrit text of the TA and provides the first English translation of the commentary on these passages from the TABh.Situating the text in the wider history of Indian philosophy, the book offers a better understanding of the role of the Jainas in the history of Indian thought. It will be of interest to those studying Indian philosophy, Indian thought and Asian religions.

A laugh-out-loud romantic adventure See what happens when a secret billionaire and an aspiring actress get a little wild in Texas. A man with a soft spot for women...Closet Texas millionaire, Tanner Peschke has three months to prove he can make a profit at the family used car dealership or he will lose his job, disappoint his father and break his promise to his dying mother. The root of his problem is women. He can't resist them--any of them. All it takes is the scent of delicate perfume or a misty-eyed gaze from an elderly woman with a sob story, and he becomes silly putty in the hands of his feminine customers. Until, with a stroke of luck and a buck of a mechanical bull, he hires Janine Davis to star with him in the dealership's live TV ads. A woman who won't let a handsome cowboy get in the way of her dream...Determined to make a name for herself, Janine needs to pay the bills between acting jobs. The offer to do a series of commercials for Peschke Motors is a chance to get her face "out there." Recognizing a player when she sees one, Janine agrees to co-star with her handsome employer fully intending to keep their relationship strictly professional. First break she gets, she's heading to Hollywood. Their jungle-themed commercials take a crazy twist, and Tanner finds himself falling...from a sales banner while chasing a monkey. But more importantly, he's falling for Janine. She's just the one woman to tame this cowboy's wild heart. Convincing her to stay with him might be harder than catching a mischievous monkey.

"This story began in 2015, when my 89-year-old mother asked if my sister and I would take her back to visit St. Tropez one last time. This wonderful trip prompted some storytelling and revelations that we had never heard before. We both agreed that we had not seen my mother so happy for a long time. When we returned to England, we had further conversations about the past, and I wrote it all down. My intention was to create a book of her memoirs to give to my own children. This family history was recorded and given to them as Christmas gifts that same year. Of all the stories Mum shared, the story of how she met George Rogers, the handsome English soldier who stole her heart, was the favorite. My mother died two years ago. I'll be forever grateful that my sister and I took that last journey with her. It left her at peace. George & Janine, Parts One and Two, were inspired by the events that led them to fall in love during the euphoric days leading up to the end of World War II and then their first steps into marriage. In Part Three, they have moved to London's East End where a very different way of life presented itself to the French-born Janine." -Elizabeth Battaglia

Ally: Janine Antoni, Anne Halprin, Stephen Petronio
Ally brings together three artist personalities who are all outstanding in their fields: the sculptor and photographer Janine Antoni and the dancers and choreographers Anna Halprin and Stephen Petronio. Together they created a series of works – sculptures and installations as well as film and performance artworks – which the volume reproduces in impressive photographs. When invited to create a retrospective of her sculptural works, t he artist Janine Antoni preferred to ask herself what her works would look like when interpreted by other artists and translated into movement. Together with the choreographers Anna Halprin and Stephen Petronio she created unique perfomance artworks whose main focus lies on corporeality. It reveals the enormous potential that lies in the combination of sculpture and dance. Critical essays by writers and art theorists accompany the encounter between artists from different generations and genres and show how they have created together a new pictorial lan guages.
