In dieser Studie wurde untersucht, wie ein im Westen entwickeltes theoretisches Modell zur Verhaltens nderung in einem Entwicklungsland angewendet werden kann. Formative Feldforschung wurde 2010 in Kibera, der gr ten st dtischen informellen Siedlung Afrikas, in Nairobi, Kenia, durchgef hrt. Die Daten wurden durch Fokusgruppen, eine Fallstudie und direkte Beobachtungen erhoben. Es wurden Empfehlungen f r eine Intervention zur Reduzierung der Durchfallerkrankungen bei Kindern ausgesprochen. Es wurde eine Kampagne vorgeschlagen, die die konsequente und nachhaltige Nutzung des Safe Water Systems f rdert, d. h. die Aufbereitung von Trinkwasser am Ort des Verbrauchs und die sichere Lagerung von Trinkwasser. Die Ergebnisse zeigten, dass die Anwendung des westlichen Modells, der Theorie des geplanten Verhaltens, als theoretischer Rahmen f r die Kampagne durchaus m glich war, sofern die wichtigsten Probleme angegangen wurden. Erstens mussten Barrieren abgebaut werden, um die Selbstwirksamkeit zu erh hen und eine positive Einstellung zur Wasseraufbereitung am Ort des Verbrauchs zu erm glichen. Zweitens mussten die normativen Verhaltensweisen und berzeugungen durch eine kenianische kulturelle Brille betrachtet und an den kulturellen Kontext angepasst werden.
