Bio-Inspired Credit Risk Analysis

Bio-Inspired Credit Risk Analysis

Lean Yu; Shouyang Wang; Kin Keung Lai; Ligang Zhou

Springer-Verlag Berlin and Heidelberg GmbH Co. K
2010

Credit risk analysis is one of the most important topics in the field of financial risk management. Due to recent financial crises and regulatory concern of Basel II, credit risk analysis has been the major focus of financial and banking industry. Especially for some credit-granting institutions such as commercial banks and credit companies, the ability to discriminate good customers from bad ones is crucial. The need for reliable quantitative models that predict defaults accurately is imperative so that the interested parties can take either preventive or corrective action. Hence credit risk analysis becomes very important for sustainability and profit of enterprises. In such backgrounds, this book tries to integrate recent emerging support vector machines and other computational intelligence techniques that replicate the principles of bio-inspired information processing to create some innovative methodologies for credit risk analysis and to provide decision support information for interested parties.

This book provides a better clue to apply quantum derivative instead of classical derivative in the modified optimization methods, compared with the competing books which employ a number of standard derivative optimization techniques to address large-scale, unconstrained optimization issues. Essential proofs and applications of the various techniques are given in simple manner without sacrificing accuracy. New concepts are illustrated with the help of examples. This book presents the theory and application of given optimization techniques in generalized and comprehensive manner. Methods such as steepest descent, conjugate gradient and BFGS are generalized and comparative analyses will show the efficiency of the techniques.

This book comprehensively reviews existing literature on consumer panic stockpiling behaviour, suggesting strategies to effectively manage supply chains during such disruptions. The book examines the prevalent operation strategies for managing consumer stockpiling based on analytical models and numerical experiments. This includes retailers’ inventory preparation, pricing and quota policies, strategic disclosure of information, and persuasion techniques. The work also explores manufacturers’ robust sourcing strategies to mitigate disruption impacts. By incorporating real-world case studies from diverse sectors, including retail, manufacturing, and logistics, the book offers evidence-based guidance on which strategies prove most effective in different situations. An invaluable resource for researchers, supply chain managers, retail executives, and policymakers concerned with enhancing supply chain resilience and managing consumer behaviour during periods of uncertainty and disruption.

This book consists of over 422 problems and their acceptable answers on structural inorganic chemistry at the senior undergraduate and beginning graduate level. The central theme running through these questions is symmetry, bonding and structure: molecular or crystalline. A wide variety of topics are covered, including Electronic States and Configurations of Atoms and Molecules, Introductory Quantum Chemistry, Atomic Orbitals, Hybrid Orbitals, Molecular Symmetry, Molecular Geometry and Bonding, Crystal Field Theory, Molecular Orbital Theory, Vibrational Spectroscopy, Crystal Structure, Transition Metal Chemistry, Metal Clusters: Bonding and Reactivity, and Bioinorganic Chemistry. The questions collected here originate from the examination papers and take-home assignments arising from the teaching of courses in Chemical Bonding, Elementary Quantum Chemistry, Advanced Inorganic Chemistry, and X-Ray Crystallography by the book's two senior authors over the past five decades. The questions have been tested by generations of students taking these courses. The questions in this volume cover essentially all the topics in a typical course in structural inorganic chemistry. The text may be used as a supplement for a variety of inorganic chemistry courses at the senior undergraduate level. It also serves as a problem text to accompany the book Advanced Structural Inorganic Chemistry, co-authored by W.-K. Li, G.-D. Zhou, and T. C. W. Mak (Oxford University Press, 2008).

This volume summarizes and synthesizes an aspect of research work that has been done in the area of Generalized Convexity over the past few decades. Specifically, the book focuses on V-invex functions in vector optimization that have grown out of the work of Jeyakumar and Mond in the 1990's. The authors integrate related research into the book and demonstrate the wide context from which the area has grown and continues to grow.

The present lecture note is dedicated to the study of the optimality conditions and the duality results for nonlinear vector optimization problems, in ?nite and in?nite dimensions. The problems include are nonlinear vector optimization problems, s- metric dual problems, continuous-time vector optimization problems, relationships between vector optimization and variational inequality problems. Nonlinear vector optimization problems arise in several contexts such as in the building and interpretation of economic models; the study of various technolo- cal processes; the development of optimal choices in ?nance; management science; production processes; transportation problems and statistical decisions, etc. In preparing this lecture note a special effort has been made to obtain a se- contained treatment of the subjects; so we hope that this may be a suitable source for a beginner in this fast growing area of research, a semester graduate course in nonlinear programing, and a good reference book. This book may be useful to theoretical economists, engineers, and applied researchers involved in this area of active research. The lecture note is divided into eight chapters: Chapter 1 brie?y deals with the notion of nonlinear programing problems with basic notations and preliminaries. Chapter 2 deals with various concepts of convex sets, convex functions, invex set, invex functions, quasiinvex functions, pseudoinvex functions, type I and generalized type I functions, V-invex functions, and univex functions.

Revised with second printing, 2018.Optimization, or mathematical programming, is a fundamental subject within decision science and operations research in which mathematical decision models are constructed, analyzed, and solved.Andreasson provides a basis for the analysis of optimization models and candidate optimal solutions for continuous optimization models. Elementary but rigorous mathematics and linear algebra underlie the workings of convexity and duality, and necessary/sufficient local/global optimality conditions for continuous optimization problems. Natural algorithms are developed from these optimality conditions, and their most important convergence characteristics are analyzed. The author answers many more “Why?” and “Why not?” than “How?” questions. The author provides lecture, exercise and reading material for a first course on continuous optimization and mathematical programming. It is geared towards third-year students, and has already been used for nearly ten years. The preface describes the main changes to the first edition. The book can be used in mathematical optimization courses at engineering, economics, and business schools. It is a perfect starting point for anyone who wishes to develop an understanding of the subject before actually applying it.

Strandin toimittama Hyvä verse (Into, 2019) oli ensimmäinen suomalaisia naispuolisia räppäreitä käsittelevä kirja.
