This book was undertaken to analyze the effect of "Agrarian change in Madurai district of Tamil Nadu" Considering the availability of water is a crucial element in determining or influencing the decision-making of farmers about their crop choice. In this assumption, three different irrigated ecosystems like canal irrigated, tank irrigated and well-irrigated were selected, and to compare the effect of water, a rainfed ecosystem was also included in this study. This book explains the need for non-farming livelihood activities to sustain the farmhood. Out of this research, we come to know the characteristics of diversified agrarian farmers, changes in the cropping patterns, and non- farming livelihood activities among farmers in the study area (Tamil Nadu, India). Gestational diabetes mellitus is one of the main obstetric dysfunctions that occur during pregnancy, where high levels of plasma glucose compromise the morphogenesis and development of the placenta. Given the large number of alterations to the placenta in diabetic pregnant women, this study went into great detail about the maternal-fetal complications arising from this pathology, with a focus on placental changes. Thus, this production adds to the information on the subject, triggering health education actions, contributing to the formulation of strategies to reduce gestational diabetes and improve the quality of care provided to patients.

The encounter, in the late seventies, between the theory of triangular norms, issuing frorn stochastic geornetry, especially the works of Menger, Schweizer and Sklar, on the one band, and the theory of fuzzy sets due to Zadeh, 10n the other band has been very fruitful. Triangular norms have proved to be ready-rnade mathematical rnodels of fuzzy set intersections and have shed light on the algebraic foundations of fuzzy sets. One basic idea behind the study of triangular norms is to solve functional equations that stern frorn prescribed axioms describing algebraic properties such as associativity. Alternative operations such as rneans have been characterized in a similar way by Kolmogorov, for instance, and the rnethods for solving functional equations are now weil established thanks to the efforts of Aczel, among others. One can say without overstaternent that the introduction of triangular norms in fuzzy sets has strongly influenced further developrnents in fuzzy set theory, and has significantly contributed to its better acceptance in pure and applied rnathematics circles. The book by Fodor and Roubens systematically exploits the benefits of this encounter in the- analysis of fuzzy relations. The authors apply functional equation rnethods to notions such as equivalence relations, and various kinds of orderings, for the purpose of preference rnodelling. Centtal to this book is the rnultivalued extension of the well-known result claiming that any relation expressing weak preference can be separated into three cornponents respectively describing strict preference, indifference and incomparability.

Heredity, environment, the role of infectious agents, and other influences have been cited within a multiplicity of factors of possible relevance to the problem of neoplasm etiology. In some cases, such as that of retinoblastoma the influence of hereditary factors has been clearly established. The influence of genetic factors in cerebral tumour development has been under discussion since as early as 1896 when Besold reported two sisters suffering from brain tumours. Although much more is now known about the classification, prognosis, and treatment of these tumours, and a number of familial cases have been reported, the present data are insufficient to permit conclusions regarding the influence of hereditary factors in the etiology of most types of cerebral neoplasms, and research in this area is urgently required. Research on familial brain tumours must still be largely based upon the cumulative case histories which have been reported. Although a number of papers contain historical reviews, some in tabulated form, the actual data have not been readily available to the researcher, each investigator being obliged to compile anew all reports published on the subject over an 80 year period. This book represents an attempt by the present authors to assemble the pertinent data on individual cases of familial brain tumours published since 1896. For this purpose the essential information from the original articles in German, French, Dutch, Spanish, Italian, Polish, and Czechoslovakian have been translated into English.
