In 2012 renowned artist, designer and author Matthew Rice bought the estate of Ham Court in the village of Bampton in the Cotswolds. Covering several acres of land, the garden, orchard and paddock surround fragments of the medieval Bampton Castle and, as well as the garden, there is a productive greenhouse and a small farmyard with a variety of animals. In this book, Matthew describes a typical year spent at Ham Court describing his daily life and work in the garden and estate. Month by month, he documents the tasks, triumphs, and occasional mishaps of life in the garden—alongside charming anecdotes, practical advice and delicious recipes to make the most of seasonal produce. Though the site is unusual, the challenges and joys he encounters are the same that any gardener would have. He also writes about the long history of the estate and its buildings and how that has shaped his design decisions in the garden. Alongside the text, the book is richly illustrated with Matthew’s distinctive artwork to make this a charming, unmissable book for gardeners and nature lovers alike.
Matthew’s New David at the End of Exile
Matthew crowds more Old Testament quotations and allusions into the prologue than anywhere else in his gospel. In this volume, Nicholas G. Piotrowski demonstrates the narratological and rhetorical effects of such frontloading. Particularly, seven formula-quotations constellate to establish a redemptive-historical setting inside of which the rest of the narrative operates. This setting is defined by Old Testament expectations for David’s great son to end Israel’s exile and rule the nations. Piotrowski contends that the rhetorical effect of this intertextual storytelling was to provide the Matthean community with an identity—in a contentious atmosphere—in terms of God’s historical design for the ages, now fulfilled in Jesus and his followers.

In this third volume, Luz brings his superlative analysis of Matthew's Gospel to a close. He is renowned for both his discerning exegetical insights as well as his tracing of the effects the text has had throughout history - in theological argument, art, and literature. This final section provides in-depth treatment of Jesus' final days - his entry into Jerusalem, the Passion Narrative, and post-resurrection appearances.

This is the second of a three-volume commentary on the gospel of Matthew from Europe's leading Matthew scholar. Volume 1 Matthew 1-7 was previously published in the "Continental Commentaries" series. Luz's commentary is especially noteworthy, not only for his incisive exegesis, but also his keen eye for the importance of the history of interpretation and his attention to the relevance of the New Testament for contemporary Christian ethics. This commentary includes excursuses on Son of David; Matthew's Interpretation of the Parables; Peter in the Gospel of Matthew; and Son of Man.

Matthew Lipman and the Educational Role of Philosophy
Bringing together the first-ever anthology of the scholarship of the late American philosopher of education Matthew Lipman, this volume provides a critical assessment of his work and his contribution to the philosophy for children movement. This fascinating collection identifies six areas of Lipman’s scholarship where he produced his most focused work: philosophy as education for reasoning, pre-college philosophy curriculum, philosophy as education for democracy and social justice, pragmatism and education, social psychology, and educational reform. In each section, established scholars select pertinent essays of Lipman and review his scholarship with original critical assessments. Through these thematic sections, the book encourages reflections and critical evaluations of Lipman’s scholarship considering new developments in the field of philosophy of education. Following on from works examining the roles of Ann Margaret Sharp and Gareth B. Matthews, the book will be essential reading for academics, researchers and post-graduate students in the fields of philosophy of education, philosophy of childhood and educational psychology.

Matthew Welton makes tunes out of words. Using the sounds and structures of language, he finds new understandings of what poetic form can do. He refuses to be constrained by convention. The title poem borrows its structure from Roget's Thesaurus to spin thirty-nine variations on sounds, images and rhythms, creating a puzzling, dazzling kaleidoscope of effects. The Book of Matthew is playful, witty and irresistibly memorable, expanding the attentive reader's awareness of the fabric of poetry and the possibilities of language. These poems give delight by means of the shape of the lines on the page, the feel of the words on the tongue, and the subtle noises they plant in the ear.
