The Islamic Moses

The Islamic Moses

There is one human mentioned in the Quran more than any other: Moses. Why is it that the Jewish prophet dominates the Islamic scripture? Because he is the role model for Muhammad, Islam’s own prophet. Because Islam, just like Christianity, is deeply intertwined with Judaism - although surprisingly little attention has been given to this fascinating connection between the two religions. Author and journalist Mustafa Akyol takes readers on a theological and historical walk through that much-neglected side of the Abrahamic triangle: the Judeo-Islamic tradition. Using Moses’ presence in the Quran as a jumping-off point, Akyol explores the first historical encounter between Muslims and Jews, the creative symbiosis and mutual enrichment that occurred between the two belief systems in medieval times, and the modern emergence, development, and perception of the two religions. At a time of bitter conflict in the Middle East, The Islamic Moses dives into the older, deeper, and often unexpectedly brighter story of Jews and Muslims. Readers of any background will be surprised by the common historical and theological ground that exists between the two religions, and will come away with a better understanding of both.

The story of Moses is a fascinating and liberating one. He was the first person recorded in the Holy Bible to perform miracles. He met God in intimate ways not granted to other humans. He had a hand in writing a good portion of the Old Testament. But in Jewish History he earned a place primarily as a Liberator.

Four thousand years ago, the Israelites drove the Canaanites from Israel and they never quite got over it...In THE STAFF OF MOSES, acclaimed Christian author Summer Lee breaks into the Biblical artifact treasure-hunting genre with an original, fast-paced standalone novel about the quest for the mystical Staff of Moses. When the adventure begins in 1963, Aviela, who works for the government, is assigned to rescue archaeologist Eldad Ben-Tzion from danger and take him to Jerusalem. When Aviela locates him at the famous archaeology expedition at Masada, an evil Canaanite poses a threat to Ben-Tzion, and to the archaeologist in charge of the dig. Aviela tries to remove the man from harm's way just when remarkable artifacts are discovered at Masada, and a professional conflict between Ben-Tzion and the lead archaeologist distracts him and throws him into a down spiral.

To the descendants of Joseph, to be kept hidden from the World until the Last Days: By the Power of YHVH, these Plates of Brass shall not perish, neither shall they be dimmed by time; but YHVH Elohim shall preserve these Words to go forth unto all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people from the mouths of those who are of the seed of Joseph; and even as Joseph fed Israel and kept them safe from famine in a strange land, these plates must be preserved that Israel may eat of the Word of God in the famine that shall be found the Last Days. To those charged to keep these records: keep them safe, keep them hidden until Fullness of Times; for in them are the manna to feed Israel, and in them are the coat of many colors preserved unto the seed of our father, Joseph, as given Him by his Father, Jacob; and in Israel is found the straight path to YHVH Elohim. Israel be blessed, for in YHVH is our salvation found, throughout all time and for all eternity; Amen.

In the book of Deuteronomy, Moses is about to die. God told him to go to the mount. Before he dies, Moses tells the children of the commandments and statutes of God. He also let them know to be obedient because they are the chosen ones. As the time got closer for Moses to close his eyes, Joshua was called to the leadership of the children of Israel. The 18th century was a wealth of knowledge, exploration and rapidly growing technology and expanding record-keeping made possible by advances in the printing press. In its determination to preserve the century of revolution, Gale initiated a revolution of its own: digitization of epic proportions to preserve these invaluable works in the largest archive of its kind. Now for the first time these high-quality digital copies of original 18th century manuscripts are available in print, making them highly accessible to libraries, undergraduate students, and independent scholars. The Age of Enlightenment profoundly enriched religious and philosophical understanding and continues to influence present-day thinking. Works collected here include masterpieces by David Hume, Immanuel Kant, and Jean-Jacques Rousseau, as well as religious sermons and moral debates on the issues of the day, such as the slave trade. The Age of Reason saw conflict between Protestantism and Catholicism transformed into one between faith and logic -- a debate that continues in the twenty-first century.++++The below data was compiled from various identification fields in the bibliographic record of this title.
