This is the story of a global movement that began when a single LinkedIn user who was missing face to face connection started a local meetup, and the global movement that followed. #LinkedInLocal began as a single meeting over a coffee for fifteen strangers in 2017, and grew to over 650 cities, in over 90 countries in less than two years. This book details how the volunteer movement began, how it grew, and the lessons and reflections from the movement. The impact on careers and building a sense of belonging was profound, and demonstrates how a group of thoughtful human beings can unite communities and use social media for good. It shares many human stories of authentic connection, career change, and social impact at a local and global level. This global community was founded on the values of collaboration, diversity, authenticity, and respect for one another. Events were pitch-free, not for profit and had corporate social responsibility at their heart. As our post pandemic world starts to take shape #LinkedInLocal shows us the power of connection, community, and using social media for good. The time has come to consider our social dilemma, the role of social media and the human connection gap created by our digital world, and how we as human can navigate a path forward. How a Hashtag Changed the World lifts the curtain on a global movement and reveals stirring stories of a community that had an incalculable impact. Read it and be inspired.Kristin SherryYouMap(R) Creator and bestselling author of YouMapIn this book, Anna and Nicole beautifully detail not only the history of the #LinkedInLocal movement, but also the core of why it captured the attention and hearts of so many in the business world that were looking for a place where they could truly belong. Ever Felt Different? is a book for anyone who has ever felt different. Two little girls, delivered to the wrong families at birth by a disorientated stork, have nothing in common with the other children in their neighborhood. They don't look the same, behave the same, or like any of the same things. Although the girls are teased and left out by some of the other children, their mother's love and encouragement helps them to accept themselves just as they are and follow their dreams. They learn that their uniqueness is one of their greatest strengths. In fact, it is only because they are different that they soar to great heights. The book features: A beautifully illustrated story that you and your children can read together. An opportunity to talk about individuality and difference A resource your children can use to build confidence and a sense of self-worth.
Kindness Changes Everything: The Bounce Back Series 1
Kindness Changes Everything addresses the serious issue of schoolyard bullying from the perspective of both the victim and the perpetrator. It seeks to empower children and equip them with the skills they need to overcome adversity and be resilient when facing life's challenges. This gives them one of the most valuable rewards of all: a healthy respect for themselves and others and the opportunity to create a school life they can love. The book features: -A beautifully illustrated story you can read and discuss together. -Strategies to help children deal with bullying, teasing, and exclusion. -Suggestions for parents. -A resources section, with activities and exercises, children can use to build their compassion, confidence, assertiveness and resilience. -Games designed to develop skills that effectively address bullying, teasing and exclusion. Kindness Changes Everything is the first book in The Bounce Back Series. This series was created to empower children and provide them with the strategies they need to overcome adversity and be resilient when facing life's challenges. It encourages children to cultivate a sense of kindness and forgiveness towards themselves and others, and to view mistakes simply as opportunities for learning. In order to achieve these goals, we need self-respect and respect for others. We also need to understand the emotions that drive our lives. Then we can learn to work with these powerful forces rather than hide from them, pretend they don't exist, or be their passive recipients. By encouraging children to understand their emotions and take responsibility for themselves and their choices, they will eventually become the drivers of their own destinies and enjoy an increased sense of confidence, freedom, and empowerment. This gives them the most valuable reward of all: the opportunity to create a life they can love. Other books in The Bounce Back Series: Messy encourages children to develop a healthy respect for themselves, each other and the Earth that underpins all life. School Rush is designed to help children begin working with their emotions in a positive and healthy way. Instead of school mornings being filled with chaos, frustration and tension, they can be transformed into a time of warmth, fun and laughter, as family members help each other to leave the house on time. Kind Words is designed to help children address everyday school yard difficulties by equipping them with sound conflict resolution skills. Making Friends equips children with strategies they can use, should they find themselves alone in the schoolyard at play. Quietly Confident addresses the emotion of fear which unconsciously underpins many of our choices in life. By encouraging children to understand and face this emotion directly, they can enjoy an increased sense of confidence, freedom, and empowerment. Facing Fear explains that anger is often used to mask other emotions that are more difficult for us to feel, such as fear, shame or guilt. When children learn to accept and understand the underlying causes of anger, it has no need to arise. A Questing Game engages children's imaginations as they embark on an adventure that can only begin when they are tucked up in bed at night. Ever Felt Different? is a delightful tale for anyone who has ever felt different The 8 Date Rule takes a comical look at dating if you feel like a giggle.

Messy is the second book in The Bounce Back Series. It encourages children to cultivate a sense of kindness, gentleness and forgiveness for themselves, each other and the Earth we all share. Messy encourages children to develop an understanding of the emotions that drive our lives, producing a generation of people that can learn to work with these powerful forces rather than hide from them, pretend they don't exist, or be their passive recipients. In June 1880, the reign of Australia's most famous bushrangers, the Kelly Gang, ended - guns blazing - in a fiery siege at the Glenrowan Inn. Ned Kelly survived, only to be hanged four months later. In this re-imagining of Australia's most notorious bushranger, Ned is given the chance to keep his band of brothers together and build a better life. What unfolds is the human side of four outlaws who are remembered as much for their anarchy and rebellion as their crimes. Ned Kelly. The life that might have been. The future he dreamed of. Such is life. Gritty, thrilling ... clever fiction. The author cleverly weaves fact and fiction together, remaining respectful to those involved.

This book provides a comprehensive history of the 21ft restricted class yachts. It starts with one of its major success stories, Tassie Too, and the Tasmanian domination of the Forster Cup -- a hotly contested and high profile series of interstate races held annually between 1922 and 1955 that saw skippers and crew propelled to near-celebrity status. The book then recognises Lord Forster's (Australia's Governor-General between 1920 and 1925) proactive role in the development of the class, as well as his inspiring personal story. It next details the origins of the 21ft restricted class, and its specifications, as well as provides a history of the Forster Cup series; the outcomes fuelled by close racing, surprising results, interstate rivalry, controversy and protest, massive public support, and the creation of legends, both men and boats. The book also summarises all of the craft built to the class and provides biographies of influential skippers, boat builders and designers, as well as crew lists.Overall, the 21ft restricted class filled an important niche in Australian sailing history, particularly between the Great War and World War II. This book showcases the class, its history and its current status, with the goal of fostering further interest and development in the 21s. Of note, more than 70 yachts built in Australia between 1909 and 2009 form the 21ft restricted class. Of the fleet 20 survive, including the class standout Tassie Too that is now based at the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania.

As the author approached her 50th birthday, she began to wonder how other people her age were experiencing the prospect of their 50s, and so the idea for this book was born. She wanted to both understand her own generation and gain a sense of what being in our 50s means in the 21st Century now that life expectancy (in the developed world, at least) means 50 is closer to midlife than ever before.Over the course of a year she spoke with twenty-one people born between 1959 and 1969 in Australia and the United States; ten women and eleven men. Her questions were wide ranging but mostly she let them talk. People discussed their state of mind, relationships, attitudes to religion, dying, health, discrimination, advice to their younger selves, lessons learned, regrets and what had changed or stayed the same over the course of their lives. What these people had in common was a willingness to talk about themselves and share their experiences. On the whole, it would seem they are a happy group at an interesting point in their lives; still vital and in the workforce, yet grappling with becoming older and remaining relevant. There was a diversity of backgrounds and experiences. People had been single, tried dating later in life, managed stepfamilies or been single parents. All the while navigating complicated and changing relationships with parents, children, ex-partners as well as their own bodies. Here are their stories.
