Biodiesel, produced from seed oils or animal fats via the transesterification process, has been the focus of biofuel production because of its potential environmental benefits and because it is made from renewable biomass resources. Biodiesel can be blended with conventional diesel fuel in any proportion and used in diesel engines without significant engine modifications. In recent years, the sales volume for biodiesel in the U.S. has increased dramatically from about 2 million gallons in 2000, to 75 million gallons in 2005, to 250 million gallons in 2006. This book explores the effects of biodiesel on diesel engine nitrogen oxide and other regulated emissions.
Ecopoetics of Reenchantment: Liminal Realism and Poetic Echoes of the Earth tackles the reenchantment process at work in a part of contemporary ecoliterature that is marked by the resurfacing of the song of the earth topos and of Gaia images. Focusing on the postmodernist braiding of various, indigenous, and ecofeminist ontologies, close readings of the animistic and totemic dimensions of the stories at hand lead to the theorizing of liminal realism—a mode that shares much with magical realism but that is approached through an ecopoetic lens, specifically working an interspecies kind of magic, situating readers in-between human and other-than-human worlds. This book promotes a worldview based on relationships of reciprocity and symbiosis. It restores our capacity for wonder together with our sensitive intelligence. Liminal realism adopts a stance in-between scientific, mythical, and poetic worldviews as it calls attention to the soundscapes, odorscapes, feelscapes, and landscapes of the world. This monograph offers an original, transdisciplinary, and cross-Atlantic take on ecopoetics as it straddles the two academic worlds and sparks a conversation between artworks, theories, and studies emerging from the English-speaking world as well as from Francophone contexts.

Dir ais: " Pero, Se or, si me hubieras dado tiempo para reflexionar, me habr a arrepentido ".
This volume shows how ICT (information and communications technology) can play the role of a driver of business process reengineering (BPR). ICT can aid in enabling improvement in BPR activity cycles as it provides many components that enhance performance that can lead to competitive advantages. IT can interface with BPR to improve business processes in terms of communication, inventory management, data management, management information systems, customer relationship management, computer-aided design, computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), and computer-aided engineering. This volume explores these issues in depth.

Software process reengineering has become highly visible since the late 1990s. Efforts are being undertaken by organizations of all types and sizes as they attempt to deal with the challenges of quality, complexity and competitiveness. As an emerging technology, the effectiveness and potential impact of process improvement efforts have been debated, but not fully tested or validated. At the very core of this technological evolution is the idea that the quality of a software product is highly dependent on the quality of the process used for its development. This text examines contemporary theories, models, approaches and processes involved with the concept of software improvement and reengineering.
James M. Buchanan, Nobel Laureate in Economics and one of the premier political economists of the 20th century, was at the heart of the emergence of public choice theory and the reintroduction of politics to academic economic analysis. Like any great and productive scholar, his body of work includes tensions, flaws, and inconsistencies that must be confronted by scholars looking to engage, critique, and advance his distinctive project in political economy. Buchanan's work is important but also open for contestation and improvement.Buchanan's Tensions: Reexamining the Political Economy and Philosophy of James M. Buchanan presents a critical assessment of Buchanan's research and ideas. The contributions to this edited volume, which include original chapters by several of Buchanan's coauthors and students, identify sources of tension within his writing. The book's key takeaway is that the research program Buchanan developed continues as an open-ended project, both as a social scientific approach and as a classical liberal political vision of constitutional order, rather than a static dogma or fruitless dead end. Taken as a whole, this volume identifies important questions and areas for future research by the next generation of constitutional political economists.
