In this brief, the authors explore and review the current knowledge regarding the role of molybdenum in the evolution of biological systems and their interaction with biogeochemical cycles. Special emphasis is placed on biological nitrogen fixation and the nitrogen element cycle. The origin and evolution of molybdenum cofactor biosynthetic pathways as well as the evolutionary significance of molybdenum containing enzymes appearance is analyzed.Original data regarding nitrogen fixation pathways and related enzymes molecular evolution processes is presented. The trace element molybdenum is essential for nearly all organisms and forms the catalytic center of a large variety of enzymes such as nitrogenase, nitrate reductases, sulphite oxidase and xanthine oxidoreductases.

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION The Story of a Shipwrecked Sailor is a work of non-fiction by Colombian writer Gabriel Garc a M rquez. The novel is about a shipwrecked sailor "Velasques" who struggles for ten days to reach the coast. In 1955, Garcia Marquez was working for El Espectador, a newspaper in Bogota, when in February of that year eight crew members of the Caldas, a Colombian destroyer, were washed overboard and disappeared. Ten days later one of them turned up, barely alive, on a deserted beach in northern Colombia. This book, which originally appeared as a series of newspaper articles, is Garcia Marquez's account of that sailor's ordeal.

Renate: the Jewish Child Who Escaped Nazi Germany
Eight year old Renate tried to escape Nazi Germany when she boarded the S.S. St. Louis with her mother on May 13, 1939. The St. Louis had 938 Jewish passengers including 200 children, many of them under the age of 10. Every passenger on the ship had a legal landing certificate to Cuba but were turned away when they arrived. The captain of the ship pleaded with the United States to take in the Jewish passengers but were told to return to Nazi Germany. The voyage of the St. Louis is one of the most tragic events in human history. Renate: A Jewish child who escaped Nazi Germany is the story of one of the few survivors of the St. Louis.
