I didn't mean to be an outsider. A photographer's life means always moving, always documenting. I create brilliant, soul-melting photos, but every morning, I wake up alone. Until I met my brother's roommate. Robert Quidell understands the side effects of his bad boy behavior: No bonds. No commitment. No connection. He gives his goddesses one night of wish fulfillment and supernova sex. But, like me, he always wakes up alone. Rob thinks graduate school will allow him to shed his bad boy reputation. For me, crashing at my brother's apartment should be a momentary opportunity for stability. We never expected to find each other. But connection means sacrifice. Can we leave our old ways behind? Or will commitment mean sacrificing brilliantly fulfilled wishes? Join Isa and Rob in this story readers compare to Colleen Hoover's CONFESS and Jessica Park's 180 SECONDS.
A Robin's Egg Renaissance: Chicago Modernism & the Great War
The history of modernism in Chicago, as told by the writers who were there. London, Paris, and New York all have their chroniclers, and now Chicago gets her due. A city of enormous contemporary literary vitality, it also was the home of a profoundly generative burst of creativity that helped shape modernism as we know it. Robert Alexander locates this efflorescence in its historical context, and then lets the participants speak for themselves. Part oral history, part anthology, and assembled from names well known and not (including Ford Madox Ford, Sherwood Anderson, W.E.B. DuBois, Edgar Lee Masters, and Eunice Tietjens), in A Robin's Egg Renaissance, Alexander has assembled a chorus of voices that shaped modernist aesthetics on the shores of Lake Michigan, with after effects in places and years far beyond.

Robin's Great Adventure: This is the true story of a boy called Robin who wanted to be an explorer, an adventurer. Maybe travel the world, visit the deserts and jungles and climb snowy mountains. Born in Germany at the end of the 19th century, he had already lived in three countries before he started school in England in 1906. Robin couldn't wait to grow up and go off and do his own thing, like hunting and fishing and travel the world - maybe even join the Navy. His parents liked to spend time overseas with friends and relatives and so they sent Robin and his elder brother Pip to boarding school. Robin attended Osborne Naval College and later Eton. Just as he was about to leave school and embark on a life of adventure the Great War broke out - and changed everything. Penny for your thoughts: The tale of a 1963 penny; travel with her on her journey, from her humble beginnings at Tower Hill in London, through her adventures across Britain in purses, pockets, cash drawers and vending machines. Meet the acquaintances she makes along the way - The Danish Krone, whose only wish it is to go home. The elderly lady who likes to sit in Sefton Park and read. The 1949 penny with a very distinguishing imperfection and which he explained made him a very valuable coin to a collector - smugly chiding the penny into asking what his particular imperfection was. The 1918 dated Rupee from India who said he had travelled to England by boat in 1936. Proudly displayed the emblem 'GEORGE V KING EMPEROR.' The 1951 penny who had spent 3 years at the bottom of a wishing well in Broadstairs, Kent. The months spent stuck behind a cinema seat, sitting through 320 showings of Zulu and have crisps, dust, crumbs and goodness knows what else kicked at her. Let penny tell you her story..... The swallow and the song thrush: This beautiful short story for children and adults alike, reveals the intimate relationship between a Swallow and a sweet little Song thrush. They fly and forage together during the summer months, always looking out for one another. As winter approaches the Swallow sadly must leave his lady and fly south to be with his friends. Returning in spring, where the Song thrush is always waiting for him. Returning from one particular winter in warmer climes, he returns with a present, not just any present, but one from the gardens of the Palace of Versailles. It becomes such a talking point that people come from miles around to see it

Group decision-making in the United States, including voting, is lower than in most developed countries. A big part of the problem is that people don't know the rules. This book, while addressing basic skills like reading and writing and advanced concepts like critical thinking, addresses that lack of training and participation. Designed for teachers of students in grades kindergarten through 12, it takes a progressive approach to mastering the cornerstone for democracy: Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised (RONR). Many schools have Student Governments. An elite few generally participate. This book introduces universal participation. While a good end in itself, this book goes further. Through the mastery of the many components of RONR, it prepares students everywhere for meetings of almost all types, large and small. It's for training not just as students but for the rest of their lives. Robert's Rules for Kids and Big Kids points the way.

We often look at people who have mastered a skill and think "Wow, they are special, I could never do that". It's a common response. Certainly, there are things we cannot do but for the most part, Mastery is not about being special. It's not about having "natural talent". It's much more than that. Mastery is something that can be achieved by anyone in any field. Robert Greene, in his book "Mastery" lays out exactly what we all need to do to gain mastery in any given field. In this book, we will analyze, discuss and summarize Robert Greene's "Mastery" and see if we too can become Masters in whatever endeavor we want to embark upon.
The Adventures of Jonathan Roberts: The Union's Quaker Scout in Northern Virginia, 1861-1865
This engaging history provides a portrait of a principled and passionate man who put his life on the line to uphold his convictions and do his duty as he saw it. In a time when brother was turning against brother, New Jersey Quaker Jonathan Roberts championed a message of peace and nonviolence. Despite his commitment to these ideals, Roberts would go on to play a vital part in the Union army's ultimate victory over the Confederates in northern Virginia. Author Gregory P. Wilson has long been fascinated by the legacy left by his colorful ancestor. In his latest work, Wilson tackles the more controversial issues surrounding Roberts's work with the Union army and his idealistic motivations. Roberts did not plan on joining the Union army, but he wasn't about to silence himself in deference to his secessionist-minded neighbors in Fairfax County, Virginia. In return, the rebels sent a lynching party after him and later put a price on his head. Roberts escaped with his life and believed he had a duty to fight the rebellion and slavery. He proceeded to volunteer for the Union army as a noncombatant scout. He also served as Fairfax County Sheriff during the war. Though he continued practicing pacifism in the face of extreme peril, his dedicated service made him a valuable contributor to the Union's cause and the U.S. Army's defense of Washington.
