Greek Epigraphy and Religion: Papers in Memory of Sara B. Aleshire from the Second North American Congress of Greek and Latin Epigraphy
In Greek Epigraphy and Religion Emily Mackil and Nikolaos Papazarkadas bring together a series of papers first presented at a special session of the Second North American Congress of Greek and Latin Epigraphy (Berkeley 2016). That session was dedicated to the memory of Sara B. Aleshire, one of the leading Greek epigraphists of the twentieth century. The volume at hand includes a combination of previously unpublished inscriptions, overlooked epigraphical documents, and well known inscribed texts that are reexamined with fresh eyes and approaches. The relevant documents cover a wide geographical range, including Athens and Attica, the Peloponnese, Epirus, Thessaly, the Aegean islands, and Egypt. This collection ultimately explores the insights provided by epigraphical texts into the religious beliefs and practices of the ancient Greeks, but also revisits critically some entrenched doctrines in the field of Greek religion.
EMILY DICKINSON VS. SARA TEASDALE - Eight Lines at a Time
This book is a tribute to the work of Emily Dickinson and Sara Teasdale, two of the greatest representatives of -female- American literature. It is a carefully crafted selection of 150 poems, all of them 8 lines in length, which are presented face-to-face in pairs -one per author- and with matching themes. In this way, the reader can compare and enjoy the magic of these poets. Emily Dickinson (1830 - 1886) is, without a doubt, one of the most renowned representatives of American Classic Poetry. Her poems and unique writing style, although largely unknown before her passing, have had a remarkable influence on American literature.Sara Teasdale (1884 - 1933), on the other hand, was favored with success and recognition for her writing, having won the first edition of the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry. Nevertheless, in more recent times she hasn't enjoyed nearly as much recognition as Dickinson. The 150 Poems in this collection are distributed in four themes: Of Love, Heartbreak and FaithOf Mother NatureOf Life and EmotionsOf DeathThis is a wonderful gift for all poetry lovers.

Marriage at any age presents challenges, generates disagreements, and requires compromise. Marriage at an advanced age increases these challenges. Sometimes it's easier to keep the peace when the hearing-aid batteries run out, and compromise is often easier to attain with the understanding that, late in life, nothing is long term. Life at Parliament Square continues in the second book of the Parliament Square series, For Better . . . For Worse. The first book, You Can't Get There From Here, introduced Sara Jennings, following her transition from independent living to life in a senior retirement community. In the last chapter of that book, Sara and Joseph became engaged to be married. Now Sara's story continues as she enjoys new experiences while savoring memories of days gone by. She opens a new chapter in her book of life with all the confidence of a four-year-old in a Superman cape. She refuses to allow her chronological age to define her, seizing life with the geriatric version of reckless abandon. Life is once again an adventure instead of a meaningless progression of hours to be endured until tomorrow arrives. The memories of life's moments massage our hearts with gentle fingers of love. Sometimes they remind us of days gone by, days that are missed but will never be forgotten. Our hearts often ache for those times. Memories make us smile. Memories make us cry. Sometimes they make us laugh and cry at the same time. They make us realize life is too precious to waste a single day. Rejoin Sara Jennings and her friends at Parliament Square as they have new adventures and make new memories in For Better . . . For Worse.
