The title seems to announce a comprehensive encyclopedia: from A to Z, each and every object or material has the potential to become an element in one of Alexandra Bircken’s charged objects and installations. Whether it’s packaging materials, machine parts, or bones, everything finds a use—the organic as well as the inorganic, raw materials and industrially produced goods. The constant reference point in her artistic explorations is the human body and its contradictory relationship to the environment, as defenselessly at its mercy as it is dependent on it. This catalogue is the first to provide a comprehensive overview of Bircken’s sculptural practice from all creative periods, which here enter into a dialogue that explores the artist's multi-layered statements on surface, body, movement, shell, and skin.

The sculptor Alexandra Hendrikoff has created an impressive and innovative artistic language, which is based on and inspired by nature. Her sculptures resemble cocoons, living organisms and other forms and figures found in nature. This monograph presents images of her sculptures for the first time. Two complementary essays introduce her work. In order to create her often freestanding or floating works of art and collages, Hendrikoff uses natural materials such as yarn, wood and seeds. Her sculptures examine the language of nature and thus challenge our technologised and alienated world view. Her works are to be understood as prototypes of life and are produced with great artisanal skills and patience. Alexandra Hendrikoff was born in Bavaria in 1965. She trained as a carpenter before studying sculpture at the Akademie der Kunste (Academy of Fine Arts) in Munich. Her works are exhibited internationally, and in 2011 she was artist in residence at the Escola de Artes Visuais in Rio de Janeiro.

The art of Alexandra Tretter is as deep as it is playful. Owing just as much to the gentle spirituality of Hilma af Klint's late geometries as it does to Sonia Delaunay's exuberant disc paintings, almost bursting with sheer chromatic pleasure. Her compassionately designed artist's book combines monumental paintings with intimate works on paper, all of which are imbued with the contexts of Tretter's own life as an artist, as a woman, as a mother. Her kaleidoscopic figurations unfold from a center at rest in itself and multiply in symmetry and asymmetry towards all sides. She contrasts the circular form, the unchanging basic element of her compositions, with the oval, which constantly strives beyond itself, transforming itself in ever-new permutations from one figure into the next, into eyes, mouths, breasts, petals or vulvas. Her images strive for composure, unfold and blossom, only to let go of all gestalt-like form. Once gained stability is instantly pushed into turmoil. Colors flare up violently or flow delicately about, lighten or shade each other, carry or throw each other off course.
This short story, 'Alexandra David Neels' is the fourth in this writer's series of short stories about great women in history. The previous short stories now in published form, were; the story of Sophie (Mary) Pierce (Lady Heath) - in the publication 'The Silver Lining', 'Tina Turner', 'Sinead O'Connor' (Sinead). This story is primarily about Alexandra, as she was the inspirational influence as a result of which I set out to write her story. However, when travelling in her footsteps the writer discovered many other 'treasures' in the form of indigenous beliefs, major religions and their motivations designed by wise men and women in order to make matters of life and death more meaningful and lifestyles more perfect. This writer has included aspects of these so that the reader can be better informed with regard to the beliefs and the aspirations not only of Alexandra but also of those that she encountered and studied. The research involved, led to the outlining, and summarising of, some very complex belief systems. Alexandra's personal journey and mission focused mainly on the Indian subcontinent and the Himalayan region.
