Diamonds of the Holy Heart: Chronicles of the Free Ones
In this, her second collection of "contemporary Psalms," Dr. Ann Marie Nielsen has surpassed even the illumined Pearls of the Presence. From the blossom of a contemplative life, decades of sacred devotion, and out of the depths of her compassionate, God-filled presence, Dr. Nielsen has penned a sublime book of mystically inspired verse. Immediately breathtaking, and heart-warmingly tender and compassionate throughout - and, equally bravely, yet tenderheartedly candid of the human condition many unwittingly deny rather than allow themselves to face and heal - this profound collection of 15 oratorios shower the spiritually receptive reader with cascades of love, insight, understanding, comfort, hope, encouragement and inspiration. From the opening verses, each Chapter captures and exhilarates the spiritual mind, and gently, often provokingly (as Dr. Nielsen says, "blowing away the labyrinth of the shadow"), opens the heart to receive the love and light of authenticity, healing, joy and liberation. Most beautifully - maybe most significantly today - Diamonds of the Holy Heart: Chronicles of the Free Ones speaks to the oneness of all people and of all walks of life. It dissolves separation, dogma and denomination and warmingly invites the peoples of every faith to a feast of unconditional love and kindheartdness; to see and treat all as treasured brother and sister; and to fill every moment and place of consciousness with divine love and compassion for all, as One, heart-in-heart with Mother-Father God. Each chapter of diamond verse reveals the underpinnings of the global family's shadow of coal, its aeons of suffering. Rather than running from our shadow, this scripture scroll of riveting, glorious and humorous messages, welcomes the hurt places right into the heart of love, transmuting every coal of dark nights and hard experience into grand auspicious forums for diamond after diamond of love, joy, miraculousness and true peace. These writings, more than any other of Ahavah's to date, invite the reader to the most tender places of raw soft potent power for goodness. They call humankind to join together in the places where we cry-we meet there, and glean the diamond there, and then come alive as the Diamond of the Presence, the Reality of Oneness with the One God. Diamonds of the Holy Heart calls the reader Home, Home, Home, inside. In this inner palace, of the diamonds of love, grace, compassion, clarity and wisdom, the way is seen how to share this diamond-as heaven as earth. Diamonds of the Holy Heart takes us right into the heartbreak, and through it to every realm of elevated experience. Nothing is hidden, bypassed, denied, or evaded. Thus an immense relief breaks through like the rising sun at dawn. The sky of the heart alights in innocence and fresh new joys in each instant. We come alive as the Diamond of the Holy Heart ... free ones.

Demands of Justice

Demands of Justice draws on original interviews and archival research to show how global appeals for human rights began in the 1970s to expand the boundaries of the global neighbourhood and disseminate new arguments about humane concern and law in direct opposition to human rights violations. Turning a justice lens on human rights practice, Clark argues that human rights practice offers tools that enrich three facets of global justice: transnational expressions of simple concern, the political realization of justice through politics and law, and new but still incomplete approaches to social justice. A key case study explores the origins of Amnesty International's well-known Urgent Action alerts for individuals, as well as temporal change in the use of law in such appeals. A second case study, of Oxfam's adoption of rights language, demonstrates the spread of human rights as a primary way of expressing calls for justice in the world.

The Identity of Christian Morality

The Identity of Christian Morality

Ann Marie Mealey

TAYLOR FRANCIS LTD

nidottu
This book argues that moral theology has yet to embrace the recommendations of the Second Vatican Council concerning the ways in which it is to be renewed. One of the reasons for this is the lack of consensus between theologians regarding the nature, content and uniqueness of Christian morality. After highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of the so-called autonomy and faith ethic schools of thought, Mealey argues that there is little dividing them and that, in some instances, both schools are simply defending one aspect of a hermeneutical dialectic. In an attempt to move away from the divisions between proponents of the faith-ethic and autonomy positions, Mealey enlists the help of the hermeneutical theory of Paul Ricoeur. She argues that many of the disagreements arising from the Christian proprium debate can be overcome if scholars look to the possibilities opened up by Ricoeur's hermeneutics of interpretation. Mealey also argues that the uniqueness of Christian morality is more adequately explained in terms of a specific identity (self) that is constantly subject to change and revision in light of many, often conflicting, moral sources. She advocates a move away from attempts to explain the uniqueness of Christian morality in terms of one specific, unchanging context, motivation, norm, divine command or value. By embracing the possibilities opened up by Ricoeurian hermeneutics, Mealey explains how concepts such as revelation, tradition, orthodoxy and moral conscience may be understood in a hermeneutical way without being deemed sectarian or unorthodox.
