God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1 (KJV) When bad things happen, it is common to question where God is during those times. For Cindy Nichols, she wondered, where was God when a man nearly performed a Satanic ritual on her when she was ten years old? Where was God when she felt trapped in a marriage with an unfaithful man who cared little for her wellbeing? Where was God when suicidal thoughts drove her to seek help at a hospital, having to leave her children alone with an uncaring father? Having lost faith in God and anyone around her, she found herself turning to God, asking Him to teach her the faith of Abraham and to help her heal emotionally and spiritually. Her prayer was answered as God revealed the ways He had always been and would always be with her. God's Arm is Not Too Short is a collection of true stories revealing the very real and active presence God had in Cindy's life. Blossoming from a believer to a knower that God is real, her world was transformed. She weathered through her terrible marital storm and not only found the chance to continue her education and obtain her degree in psychology, but met the man who would become the love of her life. They have been happily married for thirty-five years. God protected her children during dire times when she could not be with them. Through the past and the present, through the good times and the bad, Cindy's stories prove God's arm is not too short to bless His children. God not only told her husband twice to encourage her to write a book, but also that His arm is not too short. To God be all the glory Cynthia was forced to quit school in her junior year. After a divorce and a emotional setbacks she went to a community college and received her GED (General Education Diploma) and Associates Degree in Psychology and Later went to a Christian college where she graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Family Studies. Cynthia was unable to start her practice in counseling due so many surgeries. She works for the Lord when ever he sends someone her way. She loves helping people pro bono to the Glory of God. This is her way of giving thanks to God for the education He allowed her to receive.

The failure to forgive leads to a self-made prison that hinders the body of Christ, the movement of Christ, and your life's purpose. The inability to forgive ties the hands of God and keeps him from moving on your behalf and in the lives of others. In Pulling Back the Layers of Forgiveness, author Dr. Cynthia L. Henderson offers a curriculum that explores forgiveness from a Biblical aspect and exposes the white elephant that can be found in congregations throughout the world. She discusses the effects and consequences that come from the refusal to forgive, identifying the different faces and layers of forgiveness and the effect it has on relationships, prayer, and overall wholeness. Pulling Back the Layers of Forgiveness shares Henderson's journey with the Holy Spirit through the forgiveness process. It shows how unforgiveness, if left unresolved, affects every area of an individual's life, building walls that shut people out and enclose you in a self-made prison.

Some academics beguile you with a few interesting ideas while other academics shake your world. Ren Girard belongs in the second camp. He demonstrates the uniqueness and indispensability of Christian revelation to a culture that is skeptical of the Gospel, and does so in a way that is absolutely life-changing. Though he described himself as an ordinary Christian, this account of his conversion, as well as his academic work, supports my claim that in centuries to come Ren Girard may be remembered as one of the great Fathers of the Church.-Bishop Robert Narron, Bishop of the Diocese of Winona-Rochester and founder of Word on Fire Catholic MinistriesCynthia Haven's treatment of the theorist Ren Girard's religious conversion is lively and lucid, but above all, it is judicious. Her careful attention to context and history remind us that Girard's experience has a universal, human dimension that will make his seminal work widely appreciated for generations to come.-Gregory Wolfe, Publisher and Editor of Slant Books and author of Beauty Will Save the World and other books.Ren Girard devoted his career to tracking down the twists and turns of mimetic desire in literature, philosophy, and anthropology. Cynthia Haven's primer makes an invaluable contribution to Girard studies by tracking down the places where Girard discussed how his theories emerged from a personal process of intellectual and spiritual conversion-and its public consequences. What emerges is a compelling picture of Girard as a post-secular thinker who tears down artificial boundaries, such as the ones between the religious and the secular, between the private and public. Haven invites would-be Girard readers to see themselves as participating in a common struggle rather than scapegoating each other. This is a must-read book for a time when mimetic competition, shorn of scapegoating safeguards, rends the fabric of civil society.-Artur Rosman, literary scholar, translator, and blogger at Cosmos the in Lost.
