However, it did not make the cut into the New Testament canon during the Nicene council. Lost to the church for centuries, until rediscovered in 1873 in the Codex Hierosolymitanus by Philotheos Bryennios. Then "lost" again by the protestant revolution and anti-catholic evangelicalism.Why was it written?Jesus Christ is the only man who lives indeed and in the hearts of billions of people. He is sent to us by God as a guide so that humanity mends our waywardness, redeems ourselves, and lives beautiful lives. His words and deeds continue to resonate even after two millennia.
