Set within a wider British and international context of post-war reconstruction, The Everyday Experiences of Reconstruction and Regeneration focuses on such debates and experiences in Birmingham and Coventry as they recovered from Second World War bombings and post-war industrial collapse. Including numerous images, Adams and Larkham explore the initial development of the post-Second World War reconstruction projects, which so substantially changed the face of the cities and provided radical new identities. Exploring these cities throughout the post-war period brings into sharp focus the duality of contemporary approaches to regeneration, which often criticise mid-twentieth century ’poorly-conceived’ planning and architectural projects for producing inhuman and unsympathetic schemes, while proposing exactly the type of large-scale regeneration that may potentially create similar issues in the future. This book would be beneficial for academics and students of planning and urban design, particularly those with an interest in post-catastrophe or large-scale reconstruction projects within cities.

I believe that history is made by people like you and me. That means that "peace is in our hands", which was the slogan of the United Nations International Year for the Culture of Peace (2000), of which I was the director. To learn how this could be possible, I undertook the study presented here in Psychology for Peace Activists which examines the lives of great peace activists, based primarily on their own autobiographies, in terms of a theory of consciousness development. Being American, I chose to study activists from American history. This was later expanded to include the important example of Nelson Mandela from South Africa. From this, I draw the conclusion that while the task is difficult, it is also possible, and we have much to learn from those who have gone before us. For this reason, I have given this little book the sub-title of "A New Psychology for the Generation Who Can Abolish War."

Humans do things differently. Humans avoid talking of death. It is spoken in whispers, avoided in conversation. When they must discuss it they use euphemisms, silly phrases like "passed on" or "sleeping" or "gone away". They are hoping, perhaps, they can pretend such euphemisms will not one day apply to them. Ultimately, though, they always do. These are some of the hardest times I have ever faced, along with some of my sweetest joys. I have so many stories to tell but this one should come next. It will take some time. This is the story of how I came to truly understand death, and what it means to take a life.
EW 101 has been a popular column in the Journal of Electronic Defense for a number of years. This compilation of tutorial articles from JED provides introductory level electronic warfare instruction for students of the discipline.
An examination of the whole field of electronic warfare modelling and simulation at a systems level, including chapters that describe basic electronic warfare (EW) concepts. Written by an expert with more than 24 years of experience, it explores EW applications and techniques and the radio frequency spectrum. A detailed resource for entry-level engineering personnel in EW, military personnel with no radio or communications engineering background, technicians and other software professionals, the work explains the basic concepts required for modelling and simulation that today's professionals need to understand. There are discussions of important mathematical concepts, such as decibel notation and spherical trigonometry, necessary for modelling and simulation. Moreover, the author describes specific types of EW equipment, how they work and how each is mathematically modelled.
