When two entrepreneurs clash over women's sportswear, the spandex flies. Michelle Paul sold her start-up company, Sportslifeware, to Arthur Dillon for $6 million. Dillon paid the first $500,000 at closing, but failed to pay the remaining $5.5 million when it was due. Paul is suing for that sum, but Dillon claims that Paul breached their contract by starting Sportique, a new sportswear company and luring away two of her former employees. Worse, one of the employees brought along the highly confidential customer list--one of Sportslifeware's most valued assets. Dillon is countersuing for the damage he alleges Paul inflicted when she breached the contract. The third edition of this popular casefile introduces Internet and social media exhibits, and updates the exhibits for a real world feel. Paul v. Dynamo focuses on motion practice, an expanding portion of all law suits, and frequently the work that resolves a case. Self-encapsulated, with all the legal research participants need included in the book, Paul v. Dynamo teaches students fact-finding, researching, and writing motions.

Imagine a Dystopian Society where the tables have been flipped-- "Sanctuary Cities" in the year 2029 are now for those trying to hang on to their civil liberties like owning a gun, openly speaking their mind, or owning a Bible without fear of being arrested. A time where military bases around the country are being converted into homeless shelters to save on government spending, and house the millions now on the streets.Would you join the President in enforcing the U.N. "Legacy Protocol?" The one that euthanizes senior citizens at seventy-five, to curb the drain on medical resources and contain population growth? Or would you resist and join those in the Sanctuary Cities, who are fighting for their rights, a place where angels have stepped in to lend a hand?Returning are our old friends: Paul, Sarah, Eli and Catherine, along with new friends: Dillon and Elizabeth in a quest to give hope and leadership as they boldly navigate the muddy waters of the future in the Sanctuary City of Colorado Springs.

CUA Press is proud to announce the CUA Studies in Canon Law. In conjunction with the School of Canon Law of the Catholic University of America, we are making available, both digitally and in print, more than 400 canon law dissertations from the 1920s to 1960s, many of which have long been unavailable. These volumes are rich in historical content, yet remain relevant to canon lawyers today. Topics covered include such issues as abortion, excommunication, and infertility. Several studies are devoted to marriage and the annulment process; the acquiring and disposal of church property, including the union of parishes; the role and function of priests, vicars general, bishops, and cardinals; and juridical procedures within the church. For those who seek to understand current ecclesial practices in light of established canon law, these books will be an invaluable resource.

In the 1920s, drawn by spectacular vistas and colorful fall foliage, photojournalist Frank Hohenberger (1876–1962) traveled to the hills of Brown County. Once there, he found more to photograph than just a picturesque landscape and he set out to record the lives of the people who lived among the hills. If You Don't Outdie Me is a brilliantly revealing volume about Hohenberger's encounter with the people of Brown County. Rather than a society of amusing and peaceful rustics, Hohenberger discovered that there were "tragedies in the valleys" and rancorous complexities that belied sentimental notions about small town life. Reproduced here are Hohenberger's incomparable photographs, not only the carefully crafted "art prints," but also the casual snapshots that show him to have been one of the pioneers of ethnographic photography. The book includes Hohenberger's previously unpublished diary notes, which record the humor, gossip, legends, oral history, figures of speech, and proverbs of the Brown County folk, as well as his astute and unguarded observations.
First published in 1999. Routledge is an imprint of Taylor & Francis, an informa company.
Liberalism and Transformation is the first scholarly work that explores the historical, philosophical, and intellectual development of global liberalism since the nineteenth century in the context of the deployment of violence, force, and intervention. Using an approach that includes interpretive and contextual analysis of texts from writers, philosophers, and policy-makers across nearly two centuries, as well as historiographical and historical analysis of archival documents (some of which have been recently declassified) and other media, Liberalism and Transformation narrates the messy history of emancipatory liberalism and its engagement with issues of war and peace. The book contributes to both a rethinking of liberal democracy and its relationship to world politics, as well as the effects of liberal internationalism on global processes. Furthermore, Liberalism and Transformation invites readers to reflect on global ethics and transformation in world politics. In the first place, it shows how ethical imaginings of the world have direct effects on actions of transformative importance. In the second place, it suggests that discourses are fluid, changing, and complex.
