Direct Pay: A Simpler Way to Practice Medicine examines the direct pay business model as a policy alternative and potential policy solution to the economic, technological, and sociocultural problems that have emerged for practicing physicians as a result of the Affordable Care Act. Based on a research study conducted by the author, the book addresses key research issues that are supported by theory and recent literature. The research and hypotheses presented in the text are tested and proven through a set of questionnaires, interviews with direct pay physicians, and case studies that illustrate how the subject originated and why it is gaining momentum in today’s challenging health reform environment. The book provides guidance on direct pay from a public policy perspective. It examines the impact of recent health reform policies and provisions on direct pay physicians, including the individual mandate and universal coverage provisions, patient-centered medical home (PCMH) certification and model of care, provisions to expand Medicaid and changes to reimbursement for Medicare, policy changes from HIPAA, and the HIT policy of Meaningful Use (MU).The book analyzes the organizational style and culture of the participating direct pay practices using theoretical and practical tests of the Competing Values Framework. It not only gauges the practices and policy implementation of direct pay practices, but also searches for variations between pure versus hybrid organizational identity of direct pay practices, and variations between direct pay practices operating on all-inclusive, fee-for-care (FFC) models versus fee-for-service (FFS) payment models.Providing a fundamental understanding of direct pay, the book highlights emerging trends and supplies authoritative analysis on how the direct pay business model can help to advance the practice of medicine through improved efficiency and effectiveness.

Do All Roads Lead to Jerusalem?: The Making of Indian Religions

Do All Roads Lead to Jerusalem? traces the history of western encounters with other cultures on two occasions: the 'pagans' of Greece and Rome and the 'heathens' in India. The West has produced many descriptions of other cultures. A close examination of these descriptions reveals that these descriptions tell us more about western culture than about the cultures the West has attempted to describe. This over-arching theme is developed by examining one element in western culture, namely, religion. This book argues that religion is not a cultural universal and the belief that all cultures have religion is an assumption on the part of all scholars of religion. The reason for this is that western culture has been shaped by religion so that members of this culture are conceptually compelled to describe other cultures from within the framework of religion. From Biblical scholarship to the Enlightenment, from the Reformation to the Romantics, from believers to atheists, the cognitive scheme is the same - one that has been set in place by the experiential framework of Christianity. It is through this framework that all other cultures have been studied so far. Is it any wonder that members of such a culture saw religion wherever they went? By means of methodical arguments and lucid explanations this book demonstrates that religion is not a cultural universal and explains why it is believed to be so. Scholars in the field of religious and cultural studies will find this work illuminating, original, and deeply compelling.

The valuable insight and information within the text encourages discussion and consideration of policy implications, applications, theoretical evaluation, and the criminal justice system itself. The book begins with an overview of crime, criminology, and the criminal justice system, along with an introduction to various databases used to study topics related to crime and justice. In later chapters, students learn the fundamental theories of criminology, including the classical school of thought, the positivist school of thought, social structure theories based on socioeconomic status, power, and wealth, and theories of social learning and social reaction. For each theory, there is a clear introduction and discussion of its key propositions and concepts, followed by an examination of its impact on the criminal justice system and policymaking. The book concludes with chapters addressing white-collar crime, terrorism, and tools for addressing the evolving challenges within the field. Fundamentals of Criminology is well-suited for undergraduate courses in sociology, criminal justice, and criminology, especially those that address criminological theory.

"Being a candle is not easy: in order to give light, one must first burn." - Rumi Every child in the world deserves a great childhood, right? Although Diya did have a childhood, it wasn't really the one we imagine for our children. Growing up in an Indian household, she was taught from a young age that family was everything and it did not matter if they were your cousins-they were still like your own siblings. But as Diya was growing up, she found this was not the case, and the more she ignored everything around her, the more perplexed she became about herself and who she was. We all have tough times in our lives, and life at times can be a confusing roller coaster, but it is a matter of knowing who we are from within and trusting the true voice within us all. Diya is now finding this out, and she hopes to be an inspiration for many others, just as she was inspired and encouraged to write her story and share it with others. This is based on a true story. All characters are real, but for privacy, all names have been changed.

Ek Khwaish / एक ख्वाइश
Must be progressive, Salvation is through progress. But without taking nature along, What will happen to the human progression? Meaning, for a man to be progressive in the world created by the Supreme Father, it is definitely beneficial for him. Difficulty arises in the progress of a human being when he possibly makes progress but by excluding and exploiting other innocent creatures of this world. All this is not acceptable to nature because nature itself has created this world for all of us, where each and every creature has the right to live voluntarily. This book is about all those innocent and speechless creatures living in this world, who are never able to reach us by their hearts. They also suffer the pain, they suffer injustice but no one stands in the cross of justice for them. This book is based on the pathetic death of a pregnant elephant few days back in our country. In this book, I have tried to convey the voice and soft feelings of these innocent creatures of this creation to humans. Finally, there is a humble request to the readers of this book ""Ek Khwaish"" to read this story soulfully and try to understand that even the innocent and speechless beings think and feel like us, we just need to understand them. Each line of this book will make you go deep into the deep ocean of sentimentality that is the specialty of this book.
