This classic history of biblical interpretation has never been surpassed in thoroughness, completeness, and penetrating insight and scholarship. It is detailed and exhaustive, full of information about the Bible as well as its interpretation throughout the ages. This book is for the teacher and student of Scripture. It will be given an honored place on the Bible student's reference shelf. Seminaries have long included this book on their list for required or recommended reading. After a long and distinguished career in teaching and preaching, Frederic W. Farrar became Dean of Canterbury in 1895. Besides contributing to many Bible commentaries, he wrote the 'Life and Work of St. Paul, Life of Christ', and 'The Witness of History to Christ'.
This book is about moving from the conceptual to practical applications that impact the day-to-day teaching and learning processes. Skoglund and Ness give School leaders all the tools that are necessary to change the culture of a school, improve teacher performance, and elevate student achievement. Each component of the process is clearly addressed. The authors provide critical documents, such as an academic mission, core commitments, instructional calendars, common assessments, data charts, error analysis forms, and meeting agendas. The Continuous Improvement System differs from other improvement efforts in that it views the school as an integrated whole and not a group of parts that are to be independently addressed. This common-sense approach has been welcomed by administrators and teachers alike.

The Hidden Curriculum in Health Professional Education

The hidden curriculum (HC) in health professional education comprises the organizational and institutional contexts and cultural subtexts that shape how and what students learn outside the formal and intended curriculum. HC includes informal social processes such as role modeling, informal conversations and interactions among faculty and students, and more subterranean forces of organizational life such as the structure of power and privilege and the architectural layout of work environments. For better and sometimes for worse, HC functions as a powerful vehicle for learning and requires serious attention from health professions educators. This volume, of interest to medical and health professionals, educators, and students, brings together twenty-two new essays by experts in various aspects of HC. An introduction and conclusion by the editors contextualizes the essays in the broader history and literature of the field.

The Resurrection Chapter 1 Excerpt One mile from Bethlehem is a little plain, in which, under a grove of olives, stands the bare and neglected chapel known by the name of "the Angel to the Shepherds." It is built over the traditional site in the fields where, in the beautiful language of St. Luke - more exquisite than any idyll to Christian ears - "there were shepherds keeping watch over their flock by night, when, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them and the glory of the Lord shone round about them," and to their happy ears were uttered the good tidings of great joy, that unto them was born that day in the city of David. . . ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Windham Press is committed to bringing the lost cultural heritage of ages past into the 21st century through high-quality reproductions of original, classic printed works at affordable prices. This book has been carefully crafted to utilize the original images of antique books rather than error-prone OCR text. This also preserves the work of the original typesetters of these classics, unknown craftsmen who laid out the text, often by hand, of each and every page you will read. Their subtle art involving judgment and interaction with the text is in many ways superior and more human than the mechanical methods utilized today, and gave each book a unique, hand-crafted feel in its text that connected the reader organically to the art of bindery and book-making. We think these benefits are worth the occasional imperfection resulting from the age of these books at the time of scanning, and their vintage feel provides a connection to the past that goes beyond the mere words of the text.
