In response to the global environmental policies, a paradigm shift has been observed in the coating industry by replacing the conventional solvent based coatings with waterborne coatings. Recently, waterborne polyurethane dispersions (PUDs) are gaining major importance as coatings and adhesives across the globe and successfully supersede their conventional solvent borne counterparts. However, the majority of PUDs synthesized from petro-based polyols and suffering from low bio-content. Naturally available plant oils are the promising renewable resource to develop the polyols for PUD preparation. This book provides insights into the literature of waterborne polyurethane synthesis from vegetable oil-based polyols and gives the rationale for taking this work which formed the basis of the thesis. A new strategy, "Ionizable polyols" has been taken for the synthesis of eco-friendly waterborne PUDs with enriched bio-content. This book written on the design and synthesis of waterborne PUDs from cottonseed oil-based ionizable polyols for coating applications has created a new path for future research on eco-friendly polyurethane coatings.
Dynamical Biostatistical Models

Dynamical Biostatistical Models presents statistical models and methods for the analysis of longitudinal data. The book focuses on models for analyzing repeated measures of quantitative and qualitative variables and events history, including survival and multistate models. Most of the advanced methods, such as multistate and joint models, can be applied using SAS or R software. The book describes advanced regression models that include the time dimension, such as mixed-effect models, survival models, multistate models, and joint models for repeated measures and time-to-event data. It also explores the possibility of unifying these models through a stochastic process point of view and introduces the dynamic approach to causal inference.Drawing on much of their own extensive research, the authors use three main examples throughout the text to illustrate epidemiological questions and methodological issues. Readers will see how each method is applied to real data and how to interpret the results.

The book on sex in the twenty-first century“Alfred Kinsey only scratched the surface. Interviewing a mere 18,000 horny humans? Please . . . Drs. Ogas and Gaddam [offer] hot new scientific findings.”—The Washington PostWant to know what really turns your partner on? A Billion Wicked Thoughts offers the clearest picture ever of the differences between male and female sexuality and the teeming diversity of human desire. What makes men attracted to images and so predictable in their appetites? What makes the set up to a romantic evening so important for a woman? Why are women’s desires so hard to predict? Neuroscientists Ogi Ogas and Sai Gaddam reveal the mechanics of sexual relationships based on their extensive research into the mountains of new data on human behavior available in online entertainment and traffic around the world. Not since Alfred Kinsey in the 1950s has there been such a revolution in our knowledge of what is really going on in the bedroom. What Ogas and Gaddam learned, and now share, will deepen and enrich the way you, and your partner, think and talk about sex.

Why do minds exist? How did mud and stone develop into beings that can experience longing, regret, love and compassion—beings that are aware of their own experience? Until recently, science offered few answers to these existential questions. Journey of the Mind is the first book to offer a unified account of the mind that explains how consciousness, language, the Self and civilisation emerged incrementally out of chaos. The journey begins three billion years ago with the emergence of the simplest possible mind, a nanoscopic archeon, then ascends through amoebas, worms, frogs, birds, monkeys and AI, examining successively smarter ways of thinking. The authors explain the mathematical principles generating conscious experience and show how these principles led cities and democratic nations to develop new forms of consciousness—the self-aware “superminds”. Journey of the Mind concludes by contemplating a higher stage of consciousness already emerging—and the ultimate fate of all minds in the universe.

Electrical Machines covers the theoretical and mathematical concepts of the most commonly used electrical machines in industry and home appliances. This book presents the practical usage and functioning of electrical machines in a way which is easily understandable by the readers. It provides a different approach from other books and presents a step by step procedure on how to start and run the machine on various load, operating, and testing conditions and connections. It also presents a complete set of readings, calculations, and graphs/plots performed on standard electrical machines with rated voltage and current. Each chapter contains answers to questions related to particular machines and testing conditions/operations, solutions to numerical problems, and some exercise problems for practice.
