A thriller inspired by a tragic true event in the author's past. Allan Wolf examines the circumstances of a boy’s inexplicable murder and the fateful summer leading up to it.Everybody likes Chris Goodman. Sure, he’s a little odd. He wears those funny bell-bottoms and he really likes the word ennui and he shakes your hand when he meets you, but he’s also the kind of guy who’s always up for a good time, always happy to lend a hand. Everybody likes him, which makes it especially shocking when he’s murdered. Here, in a stunning multi-voiced narrative – including the perspective of the fifteen-year-old killer – and based on a true and terrible crime that occurred when he was in high school, author Allan Wolf sets out to answer the first question that comes to mind in moments of unthinkable tragedy: how could a thing like this happen?

These letters reflect a contemporary view of issues people are afraid to touch. Dogood Goodman was an egalitarian. He had no biases. He treated everyone and everything with equal disdain. But inside that sarcastic shell of a man, I sensed a deep love for a higher humanity, a deeper morality. Dogood saw people stuck in their beliefs, stuck in their political views and sexuality and more. He wanted to shake them and get their minds unstuck. He wanted to shatter their frail bodies and make their spirits aware of the world outside themselves. And his language reflects that need to reach the divine even if it is vulgar. are afraid to touch.
Who Killed Christopher Goodman? Based on a True Crime
"Wolf's dynamic, multifaceted characters come vividly alive through their distinct speaking voices, and their struggle to come to terms with not only their guilt but the senselessness of the universe is deeply affecting." -- Booklist (starred review) Everybody in the small town of Goldsburg, Virginia, likes Chris Goodman, which makes it especially shocking when he's murdered. Here, in a stunning multi-voiced narrative -- including the perspective of the fifteen-year-old killer -- and based on a true and terrible crime that occurred when the author was in high school, Allan Wolf sets out to answer the first question that comes to mind in moments of unthinkable tragedy: How could a thing like this happen?

“An Ethnography of the Goodman Building vividly incorporates a wide variety of methods to tell the story of class struggle in a building, neighborhood, and city that is replicated globally. I read it as a number of boxes inside each other opened in the course of reading. Caldararo recounts the building’s personal “biography” to convey not only the “facts about,” but the “feelings about” the flesh and blood of the building and its surrounding neighborhood.” —Jerome Krase, Brooklyn College of The City University of New York, USA “This unique contribution to the field of urban and regional studies counteracts current trends in the ethnographies of urban movements by offering, with great hindsight, an analysis from a physical space, and from first-hand experience. The focal point is one building, and the author is a former tenant. This perspective is appealing, especially in an era of global connections where macro social movements are on the front line of urban life and research.” —Nathalie Boucher, Director and Researcher, Respire, and Affiliated Professor Assistant, Department of Sociology and Anthropology, Concordia University, Canada. Through in-depth analysis and narrative investigation of an actual building occupation, Niccolo Caldararo seeks to not only offer an historical account of the Goodman Building in San Francisco, but also focus on the active resistance tactics of its residents from the 1960s to the 1980s. Taking as its focal point the building itself, the volume weaves in and out of every life involved and the struggles that surround it—San Francisco’s urban renewal, ethnic clearing, gentrification, and municipal governance at a time of booming urban growth. Caldararo, a tenant at the center of its strikes and activities, provides a unique perspective that counteracts current trends in ethnographies of urban movements by grounding its analysis in physical and tangible space.

To Whom Much is Given: A Grayson Goodman Novel
"Engaging and impossible to put down", To Whom Much is Given, is Yanatha Desouvre's debut novel which readers have described as "James Bond meets Luther; with a dash of Marvel's X-Men and Mission Impossible sprinkled with Haitian hot sauce." Among action packed cliff hangers, Desouvre captures the complexity of the human spirit in this fictional, yet realistic culturally relevant mystery brimming in believable and intentionally broken characters, leaving you wondering what is next for this witty and courageous crew. Childhood friends Grayson and Amara, along with Dominique, Amara's closest friend join together on a dangerous pursuit to rescue Amara's nephew Jason. Little do they know where this quest will take them and how dangerous are the forces behind this kidnapping. The darkness of the past haunts these brave friends as they embark on this journey. Will they be able to save Jason in time?
