This illustrated book which consists of 35 short stories, is a not-so-distant history of Armenian Quarter of Esfahan written from eyes of a child in 1950's. It shows how the simplicity of childhood can make bridges between cultures and religions. By publishing this book in US about my childhood stories in Iran, I hope it can make a small contribution to understanding and peace among people of these countries seemingly far apart but in reality very close.

The Boundaries of Australian Property Law offers a unique perspective on real property law in Australia. As the overwhelming majority of land interests in Australia now fall under the Torrens title system, this book's particular focus on the development and operation of the Torrens system in Australia is both timely and welcome. Addressing the prescribed Priestly 11 requirements for a property law subject in Australia, this informative and academically rigorous book includes carefully selected statutory material and case law from all Australian jurisdictions, as well as the United Kingdom. The general law system is also discussed and referred to where necessary, to give context and depth to the analysis of real property law. Written by prominent real property law academics from law schools around Australia, and edited by Hossein Esmaeili and Brendan Grigg, this text is a modern and much-needed addition to real property law literature.

The first book to discuss robust aspects of nonlinear regression—with applications using R software Robust Nonlinear Regression: with Applications using R covers a variety of theories and applications of nonlinear robust regression. It discusses both parts of the classic and robust aspects of nonlinear regression and focuses on outlier effects. It develops new methods in robust nonlinear regression and implements a set of objects and functions in S-language under SPLUS and R software. The software covers a wide range of robust nonlinear fitting and inferences, and is designed to provide facilities for computer users to define their own nonlinear models as an object, and fit models using classic and robust methods as well as detect outliers. The implemented objects and functions can be applied by practitioners as well as researchers. The book offers comprehensive coverage of the subject in 9 chapters: Theories of Nonlinear Regression and Inference; Introduction to R; Optimization; Theories of Robust Nonlinear Methods; Robust and Classical Nonlinear Regression with Autocorrelated and Heteroscedastic errors; Outlier Detection; R Packages in Nonlinear Regression; A New R Package in Robust Nonlinear Regression; and Object Sets. The first comprehensive coverage of this field covers a variety of both theoretical and applied topics surrounding robust nonlinear regressionAddresses some commonly mishandled aspects of modelingR packages for both classical and robust nonlinear regression are presented in detail in the book and on an accompanying website Robust Nonlinear Regression: with Applications using R is an ideal text for statisticians, biostatisticians, and statistical consultants, as well as advanced level students of statistics.

sidottu
This book provides a broad introduction to computational aspects of Singular Spectrum Analysis (SSA) which is a non-parametric technique and requires no prior assumptions such as stationarity, normality or linearity of the series. This book is unique as it not only details the theoretical aspects underlying SSA, but also provides a comprehensive guide enabling the user to apply the theory in practice using the R software. Further, it provides the user with step- by- step coding and guidance for the practical application of the SSA technique to analyze their time series databases using R. The first two chapters present basic notions of univariate and multivariate SSA and their implementations in R environment. The next chapters discuss the applications of SSA to change point detection, missing-data imputation, smoothing and filtering. This book is appropriate for researchers, upper level students (masters level and beyond) and practitioners wishing to revive their knowledge of times series analysis or to quickly learn about the main mechanisms of SSA.

The extent of Islamicity, or what Islam demands, is measured to confirm that self-declared Muslim countries have not adopted foundational Islamic teachings for rule-compliant Muslim communities. Western countries, on the other hand, are demonstrated to have better implemented fundamental Islamic teachings for a thriving society.
The Legal Regime of Offshore Oil Rigs in International Law
This book reviews and examines the relevant portions of all international treaties, cases and the national law and practice of states, in relation to international aspects of offshore oil rigs. By doing so, it offers an understanding of the legal regime surrounding oil rigs and formulates an international law framework. It investigates the issues under consideration by analyzing provisions of international law pertaining to all aspects of oil rigs, as well as international treaties and their travaux preparatoires. It also examines the national legislation of major offshore oil and gas producers and defines a framework of customary international entities such as the OSPAR and the petroleum industries of certain major offshore oil producers. Based upon the book's findings, it is clear that in spite of their increasing importance, offshore oil installations are subject to fragmentary and vague legal rules under international law.

Autobiography of the eventful life of a pediatrician who had two scholarships (Great Britain and Harvard Medical School), made significant contributions to intravenous nutrition, reduced the mortality rate of prematurely born babies from 58% to 8%. Other significant contributions include the treatment and prevention of intractable diarrhea in infancy and the deciphering of "Chinese Restaurant Syndrome". The pediatrician, head of the department of pediatrics at Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, was given 24 hours by the administration to leave the premises. Department heads and physicians at large objected vehemently and the case went to court. Unbelievable as it sounds this all happened here in the U.S.A., and the life-saving procedure he invented was stopped.

The Moral Epistemology of Intuitionism

The Moral Epistemology of Intuitionism

Hossein Dabbagh

BLOOMSBURY PUBLISHING PLC

sidottu
Covering moral intuition, self-evidence, non-inferentiality, moral emotion and seeming states, Hossein Dabbagh defends the epistemology of moral intuitionism. His line of analysis resists the empirical challenges derived from empirical moral psychology and reveals the seeming-based account of moral intuitionism as the most tenable one. The Moral Epistemology of Intuitionism combines epistemological intuitionism with work in neuroethics to develop an account of the role that moral intuition and emotion play in moral judgment. The book culminates in a convincing argument about the value of understanding moral intuitionism in terms of intellectual seeming and perceptual experience.
