This fourth edition of Historical Dictionary of Mongolia covers the people and organizations that brought Mongolia from revolution and oppression to independence and democracy, and its current unprecedented level of national wealth and international growth. This is done through a chronology, an introduction, appendixes, and an extensive bibliography. The dictionary section has over 1,200 cross-referenced entries on important personalities, politics, economy, foreign relations, religion, and culture. This book is an excellent resource for students, researchers, and anyone wanting to know more about Mongolia.
This book is a collection of mainly Christian poems. Julie has written some others that are included because she felt they could come under the title of "Broken Treasures". As we can see in our life, in our world and in others the brokenness that sin brings about. Truly, it is only through Jesus Christ that reconciliation to God, forgiveness of sin, and the mending of brokenness comes about. When we are transformed by Christ, we are God's treasure. It is Julie's prayer that God receives glory in this book. May the Lord God be with you, bless you and bring His peace to you.
"Suicide was all the rage in L.A. the summer of '39." When an oddball sister and brother hire him to find out if their father's suicide was suicide, private investigator Nate Ross figures he's in for an easy job. That is, until he discovers that the evidence doesn't add up and the cops - who are strangely cooperative - have rubber-stamped the case and filed it away. Soon Nate's dealing with crooks on the lam, dodging local bigwigs and shady lawyers, and chasing a clear-cut case of murder. Meanwhile, he wrestles with a conflict of interest as he's forced to investigate his own client. The more threads he pulls, the more things threaten to unravel completely. But with the help of old sidekicks, and a couple of new ones, Nate may get to the truth first. If he doesn't die trying.
Nate Ross once again rides the Wild West of 1930s Hollywood when retired silent film star William S. Hart hires him to recover a valuable painting stolen from Hart's home and held for ransom. Trouble is, the art-napper's a dead man-a B-Western day player killed in an on-set shooting the cops aren't convinced was an accident. His death has caused bitter division among the movie cowboys, even between Nate's pal Dusty and his business partner, Pooter. To solve his own case, Nate's forced to travel on the edge of an investigation he wants no part of, landing him in more hot water than usual with the L.A. police. And when Dusty's shot in a burglary, Nate's pulled in yet another direction as he looks for the culprit, with help from an unexpected source.
According to the conditions for discipleship stated by Christ, not all believers are disciples in the New Testament sense. Jesus gave this simple word a rich meaning. According to today's culture, we want short-term results-prayer needs to be quick, ministry is all about quick success, and we pursue the greatest satisfaction with the least effort. However, true discipleship is neither quick nor easy. Once you take the first step to follow the Lord, there is no turning back. There is no such thing as a "short-term disciple." True discipleship is more than an intellectual recognition of the Christian faith; it is about the whole person and his or her way of life. This book will help you become such a disciple.
Wyatt Earp, Bat Masterson, Wild Bill Hickok: most people could recount at least a few details of such celebrated Old West figures whose fame rests mainly upon their exploits as lawmen. Though they are icons today, these men represent only a small fraction of the vast number who risked everything to bring law and order to the frontier. Many other "law dogs" of the untamed West engaged in exploits rivaling or surpassing those of their renowned contemporaries, yet their names are little, if at all, known today. They've been overlooked, forgotten, or - in the parlance of their day - "disremembered." A key reason is that many of these men died in the line of duty, careers and lives cut short and any chance at lasting glory buried with them. They were truly "the numberless unknown heroes, equal to the greatest heroes known." This book is intended as a tribute to such men, giving a small sampling of them - fourteen in all - their long-awaited due. In these accounts of their careers and untimely deaths, readers will find true tales as exciting and engaging as any told about the usual suspects - already the heroes of countless dime novels, books, films, and television shows.
New York City orphan Joe Monday dreams of finding a family and of being a cowboy. Things look up when he's sent West on an "orphan train," until he ends up with a pair of pig farmers who only want the free labor he provides. Joe runs away with a cattle drive headed north from Texas, though the cowboys are unsure of their young tag-along. But when disaster strikes, Joe proves that even a kid can be a hero, and learns that dreams really can come true. "John Sanders has not only written a wonderful story, but he has reopened the Big Book of the American Cowboy for a whole new generation of children to enjoy." Don Edwards AMERICA'S COWBOY BALLADEER
Against his better judgment, Hollywood-hating private investigator Nate Ross takes on a Tinseltown case in the spring of 1938. It sounds like a milk run: find an alcoholic screenwriter whose absence is stalling production on Republic Pictures' latest Western. But when the missing rummy turns up dead, and Nate learns that somebody's going to lethal lengths to keep Stardust Trail from being made, his simple case becomes far more complex, and deadly. He finds himself traveling in unfamiliar territory: the world of B-movie cowboys, and the lines between the "reel" West and the real West begin to blur as Nate wrangles a twisted case of murder and sabotage pointing back nearly forty years to a bloody, real-life "Wild West" crime.
For fans of The Time Traveler's Wife, Life After Life, and The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, The Coincidence of Hope joins the paranormal stage in a World War II Americana novel like few others. It's 1944. Word War II is raging and Nebraska farm boy Joe Matthan is-without a single doubt in his young heart-in love. But he has other things on his mind, such as shipping off to Europe, leaving Elaine Johnson, and how it will affect her if he dies in battle.Which he does. When Joe loses his life in the war, he inexplicably lives on-as a ghost who inhabits the living. Although he clings to the hope of returning to Elaine to see what happened to her without him, he's all but given up on that possibility. But a number of coincidences have other plans.Over fifty years later, when Joe arrives in his hometown, a number of coincidences force him to ask why he didn't move on when he died, and-more importantly-if he must surrender his dream of being with Elaine again ... in the afterlife. An intriguing novel that weaves back and forth between the past and the present, which includes interesting combinations of character points of view and factual history, The Coincidence of Hope delves into the one challenge we all should meet: before judging others, we should place ourselves within their perspective, for they may be more like us than we care to admit.
Graduating college soon, Joe Matthan can't wait to spend the rest of his life with Elaine Johnson. After all, according to a few strange dreams he's been having, they are long lost loves, separated by his death in World War II. Joe wants to share his theory with Elaine-but not until he confirms it. The problem is, he doesn't know how to confirm it, and if he tells her without proof, she may think he's lost his mind. When fate steps in with a possible solution, it puts their relationship at risk. Now he must decide if he should discover his past or if he should ignore it, which may still threaten their future together. The Gift of Hope, the final book in the Hope Series, illuminates how love never abandons the human heart, as long as we believe in hope.
