Um eine Antwort auf diese Fragestellung zu finden, wird zun chst die Theorie des Sicherheitsdilemmas erl utert und ein berblick ber L sungsans tze in Form von R stungskontroll- und Limitationsvertr gen gegeben. Anschlie end wird der Ausl ser der andauernden Krise, der Raketenabwehrschild der USA, betrachtet, um die Bedenken Russlands besser zu verstehen und ein Gesamtbild von der Situation zu bekommen. Nachfolgend wird gezeigt, inwiefern sich die Kooperationsm glichkeiten zwischen den USA und Russland in den letzten Jahren und Monaten ge ndert haben und vermutlich noch weiter ndern werden. Dies soll an der Schw chung verschiedener R stungskontrollabkommen sichtbar gemacht werden. Der zweite Ansatzpunkt geht mehr auf die materielle, sprich die nuklearstrategische Ebene ein, indem die Zusammenh nge zwischen dem Sicherheitsdilemma und dem Verschieben der nuklearen Pattsituation verdeutlicht werden. Die Schlussfolgerungen und mein eigenes Fazit werden die Arbeit abrunden.
