Environmental Governance in Europe and Asia
This book looks at environmental governance in both Asia and Europe and offers a comparative analysis of the two regions in order to provide a better understanding of the concept of ‘environmental governance’ and its status in Europe and Asia. The book assesses the legislative, institutional and participatory mechanisms which affect the overall development of environmental governance, and analyses current issues, concerns and strategies in respect of environmental governance at the local, national, and international levels. The rapid changes in economic, social and political life have had an enormous impact on Asia’s ecosystems and resources. Asian countries, in the name of economic development, are following the same environmentally destructive path their European counterparts followed in the past. The key to the environmental future of these two regions lies in the evolution of the character of governance - the ensemble of social ethics, public policies and institutions which structure how state actors and the civil society interact with the environment. This book will be valuable to scholars and students of environmental politics, EU and Asian studies, public policy, environmental law, and to decision makers and policy analysts.

The Shade Tree is a wonderful book that your children will discover the essence of who they are. During your child's early years they will be bombarded with outside influences that seek to set them an image of who they are that is contrary to the values most of us would like to instill as parents. Before turning introspective, children will form a self-image that early on looks at the outward appearances. The world says that bad guys wears black, that evil and magic are the dark arts, that the brown cake is Devil's food cake. Systematically, and relentlessly, our children are indoctrinated that the color of the face staring back at them in the mirror is associated with all things bad. Not only must we remove the negative imagery, but we must then replace the negative with the positive. This book, The Shade Tree, is a tool that will help children not only feel good about themselves, but also to embrace all the various different skin shades in the diaspora. Your child will also have fun reading the colorful book that can also be performed as a skit which celebrates a parade of beautiful skin colors and thereby teach large numbers at once a love for self and a love for others regardless of skin color and what stigmas society attempts to attach.
Do You Know the Real Message of God in The Bible? Surrender wholeheartedly to the will of God, The Holy Spirit will transform your life..
Since I can remember I researched for this core message of God in the Holy Bible. I'm not an apologist, nor went to formal Bible school. I presume the Holy Spirit had pushed me to do this 1st book as a humble offering to the Godhead. For all the blessings I received. Apparently, everyone seems to seek a paragon, in a simple book to elucidate and at least simplify the enormous data in the Holy Scriptures. It seemed busy people never had the time to even open the Bible, more so to absorb what they read in it. This first book, is aimed to do just what everyone seems to never find - a simple, easy to understand, unlike the high-brow books written about the Holy Scriptures. I intentionally made this book written in a low-brow style to make everyone understand the simplicity of God's Message. Since I started to read, as a preschooler, at the age of 4. the French-Canadian nuns in the convent where I started my formal schooling hammered me with theology. The logic behind the study of God, our Almighty Father and His supernatural works. This first book is truly a synopsis of the Holy Bible, easily understood but centered only in the most important events in mankind's history from the Creation of the world and the first human beings, Adam & Eve.

My First Homer: ILIAD and ODYSSEY renarrated for children
My First Homer: A Literary Gem for Both Young and Old My First Homer isn't merely a book. It's a gateway to one of humanity's most treasured literary masterpieces. Tailored specifically for elementary school children, it provides an accessible adaptation of the epic tales of the Iliad and Odyssey. Yet, it subtly resonates with adults seeking a more approachable rendition of these classic narratives. With its clear and respectful language, the storytelling genius of Homer shines through in its most authentic form. For those aiming to gift their children not just entertainment, but also a piece of "cultural capital", My First Homer stands out as the ideal choice. Tell the story, o Muse, of the sophisticated man who traveled far and roamed widely after he destroyed the famous citadel of Troy. Many countries and cities he saw, got to know their morals and customs; at sea he suffered hardship, tried to save his life and bring his men home; but whatever he did, he couldn't help his companions, for they committed an outrage and devoured the cattle of Helios. Therefore, the god prevented them from living to see the day of their homecoming. Tell it even to us, goddess, daughter of Zeus, and just start anywhere you want. CALYPSO On the tenth night, the waves flushed him to the shore of the island Ogygia, where the little goddess Calypso lived. She took care of Odysseus, helped him regain strength, and kept him as her man in her spacious grotto. The goddess Athena observed everything from Olympus, the high mountain where all gods lived. One day, she went up to the father of the gods: "Almighty Zeus," she said. "All the Greek heroes who fought in Troy are already back home except Odysseus, who for seven years now has been stranded on a forested island in the middle of the sea, where a little goddess is in charge. It is Calypso, daughter of Atlas. With endearment and flattery, she tries to mesmerize him, so he forgets about Ithaca. He is desperate now and wishes nothing more than to see his home again in his lifetime. That is something to understand, is it not? Why do you not grant him his wish, father of the gods? Did he not bring you sacrifices whenever possible? Even back in Troy?" "Child," Zeus said, "my dear Athena, I have nothing against Odysseus; in fact, quite the opposite. It is Poseidon, the god of the sea, who haunts him with his wrath. He cannot cope with the misery caused by Odysseus, who poked out the eye of his son, Polyphemus. That is why he is chasing him and preventing him from returning home. - But we all up here want to decide now: Odysseus has suffered enough, and he can now return to Ithaca. Poseidon's anger will cool off. He is not that mighty to stand up against the will of all the other gods." "Splendid," Athena said with sparkling eyes. "Best to send the messenger of the gods, Hermes, to Ogygia right away, so that he can tell Calypso that she has to let Odysseus go." Hermes strapped on his winged shoes. He floated through the air and across the sea. When he reached the remote island, he went to the grotto in which Calypso lived by foot and passed on the decision of the gods. Calypso became very sad because she loved Odysseus. But as a little nymph, she could not disobey the order of the father of the gods. Like every day, Odysseus sat on a rock and gazed longingly out at the sea. He was not mad at Calypso, who was very beautiful and had saved his life. He was only very homesick. So Calypso stepped up to him and said what he had stopped hoping for: "You are free "

A memoir told in captivating stories and poignant images, Cherry Hill combines the talents of photographer Jona Frank and Academy-Award winner Laura Dern to tell the story of one girl's youthful struggle and deliverance Told in words and evocative photographs, Frank's account of her childhood struggles with a repressive mother, mentally ill brother, and overwhelming expectations is leavened with episodes from her rich interior world. Akin to a graphic novel, this hybrid of personal essay and photography breaks open the memoir format, detailing the life of a young artist as she spends her days dreaming of a friendship with Emily Dickinson, longing for Bruce Springsteen and eschewing the rules of femininity. Frank employs a cinematic approach to construct vivid scenes from her youth. Using elaborately dressed sets, era-specific wardrobes, and multiple actors to portray herself as a child, Frank refashions her memories into vibrant tableaux. Strikingly, Frank cast Academy Award-winning actor Laura Dern in the role of her strict and complicated mother in a performance as bravura as her film and television work. As Frank outgrows the confines of her environment and suffocating domestic life, discovering art and photography as the path to her personal fulfillment, she plots her ultimate escape. A unique photographic storytelling project reminiscent of such classics as Fun Home and The Best We Could Do, Cherry Hill is an intimate self-portrait of what it takes to break free of convention and answer the question, "Who am I meant to be?"
