Long after its genesis they were popular and preserved in folk songbooks. For this book I chose two operas "Jora and Manda", and the second work "Marena and Kedrota". The village teacher Josef Pek rek (1758-1820) composed both operas. Libretto was writen by prior of Premonstratensian monastery Josef Mauritius Bul n (1744-1785). Have a nice experience with the music of classicism, which has its roots in folk music.

These journals provide great insight into the mind and art of one of the great 20th century artists. Though born in Poland, he is best known for his paintings of Welsh miners, for it was workers that inspired him, and he painted them with great simplicity, almost as monuments to work, and often with the sun and sky behind them so that they looked like latter-day saints. The journals reveal his artistic heritage, who inspired him, what he was in painters, what he thought of their technique. This is a fascinating book for anyone interested in art.

Schächter’s writings are supplemented by a transcript of an interview with him, a report by his grandson Asher Schechter, and further documentation of relevance.
