In a parish of wealthy women, Rose Antrobus forms a committee to decide who should benefit from a small bequest left to charity. Secretly she hopes the money will go to the Peachey family - a mother cruelly abandoned and looking after her three young children on a pittance. But the situation isn't as simple as all that, and soon it causes unexpceted ructions and confrontations - and Rose finds herself turning back the clock to remember a childhood vacation spent at the Marigny chateau in France ... a vacation which, thirty years later, is to provide the solution to her dilemma. 'The dialogue is subtle and the atmosphere of the French visits economically and brilliantly conveyed.' A. S. Byatt

Seminar paper from the year 2016 in the subject Sociology - Work, Profession, Education, Organisation, grade: 4.00, course: International Studies, language: English, abstract: Unemployment has become an existing macroeconomic problem for developing and even developed countries. Despite the efforts of the government to lessen the rate of unemployment, the problem still exists and it negatively affects the unemployed population. In this paper, common employment barriers in Laguindingan (a municipality in the province of Misamis Oriental, Philippines) and its corresponding negative financially, socially, and psychologically effects are researched. Interviews with fifty unemployed individuals were conducted and the findings are presented descriptively. The current national census tells that the Philippine population is at 102,377,484. More than six million individuals of this estimate or about 6.1 percent are unemployed; in the province of Misamis Oriental, around 5.6 percent of the population are presently unemployed. For the past five years, the unemployment rate has significantly changed; however, changes are noticeably fluctuating. This paper seeks to determine the most common employment barriers and their corresponding negative effects to individuals residing in the municipality of Laguindingan which is an emerging town in terms of business, tourism, and the likes; the researchers find it considerable to conduct a study on unemployment for future assessment and use in making the town more productive.

Her past is restless. Her future is vulnerable. The longest summer of her life has begun. Employed by her town's historical society, Miranda Blair preserves brick-and-mortar landmarks from yesterday but has spent two decades running from her past. Having never been able to afford life's indulgent toppings, she's settled for vanilla. Miranda is coaxed from her childhood home when she's named the sole heir to her estranged grandmother's estate. Gertrude Blair has outlined a hundred-day stay at her New England cottage as a prerequisite for the inheritance. Begrudgingly, Miranda accepts this unorthodox final request from the woman who never deserved the title 'grandma.' In idyllic Cobblers Hill, shingled homes boast charming front porches and roses entwine white picket fences. But Gertrude's abandoned property needs a makeover as desperately as Miranda does. And while remnants from Miranda's history dwell within the dark paneled cottage walls, no strings attached prevails as her motto - until, that is, she meets the emerald-eyed guy next door.

The fast-paced, unpredictable, and high-risk nature of crisis intervention creates critical ethical dilemmas that can result in personal harm and professional liability if not handled appropriately. Applying a traditional model of ethical decision-making is often impractical when time is limite and decisions must be made quickly. This counseling tool kit offers a new operational approach for integrating ethical decision-making in crisis intervention. Following detailed discussions of crisis intervention within the framework of realtional-cultural theory, a triage assessment system, and an original ethical decision-making protocol, nine diverse case studies in hospital, telebehavioral health, school, clinical, and public settings are presented. Students and practitioners will build a repertoire of ethical decision-making skills to de-escalae crisis incidents and provide an appropriate level of support to individuals experiencing crisis. *Requests for digital versions from ACA can be found on www.wiley.com *To purchase print copies, please visit the ACA website https://imis.counseling.org/store/ *Reproduction requests for material from books published by ACA should be directed to [email protected]
