Mel Katz is a highly regarded Portland sculptor and teacher whose work is firmly rooted in the principles of geometric abstraction. He moved to Portland, Oregon, in 1964 to teach at Portland State University, where he taught for the next thirty-two years. He helped found the Portland Center for the Visual Arts in 1971, one of the first alternative artist spaces in the country. Originally trained as a painter, Katz has produced a remarkable body of work over the past fifty years that reflects his unique journey from painter to sculptor, working in many different media, including polyurethane, fiberglass, wood, formica, steel, and aluminum.Katz has been featured in numerous one-person and group exhibitions throughout the United States, including the First Western States Biennial. He was the subject of a major retrospective exhibition at the Portland Art Museum in 1988 and was included in the traveling exhibition, Still Working, in 1994. His work is included in the collections of the Hallie Ford Museum of Art, Portland Art Museum, the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art, the Seattle Art Museum, the Tacoma Art Museum, the Oregon Arts Commission, the City of Seattle, and many national corporations.
The Mel Noel flying saucer experience had a considerable impact on Ufology. As an experienced pilot and a public figure, Noel's sighting added a significant voice to the growing discourse on UFOs. From 1963 onwards, Mel Ramos (1935-2018), one of the first Pop Art artists, developed his focus on provocative and seductive imagery. Echoing the aesthetic of magazines and advertisements, he positioned female bodies atop consumer goods in various erotic - at times almost vulgar - poses. By referencing and showcasing them in this way, Ramos exposed the marketing strategies employed in the advertising industry. This new catalogue presents around 70 works on paper dating from every phase and series of his oeuvre and conveys the artist’s graphic conquest of the picture surface, as well as his meticulous composition. The preliminary sketches are shown alongside the final large-scale oil paintings with their typical Pop Art colour palette. Text in English and German.

A presente obra analisa as caracter sticas f sico-qu micas e microbiol gicas de m is de abelhas Apis mel feras produzidas por diferentes associa es e apicultores informais no Sert o da Para ba. Foram analisadas 20 amostras de diferentes produtores e marcas, sendo os ensaios conduzidos com um n merom nimo de tr s repeti es. De acordo com os resultados, verifica-se que entre os m is analisados, os adquiridos de produtores informais foram os que apresentaram o maior n mero de par metros em desconformidade com as normas de qualidades vigentes no pa s e que, apesar da baixa confian a que as amostras de mel vendidas informalmente passam ao consumidor, n o foi detectado produto com sinais de fraude nas amostras analisadas.
