Relativistic effects are of major importance for understanding the properties of heavier atoms and molecules. Volumes I-III of Relativistic Theory of Atoms and Molecules constitute the only available bibliography on related calculations. In Volume III, 3792 new references covering 1993-1999 are added to the database. The material is characterized by an analysis of the respective papers. The volume gives the user a comprehensive bibliography on relativistic atomic and molecular calculations, including studies on the Dirac equation and related solid-state work.
Relativistic effects are of major importance for understan- ding the properties of heavier atoms and molecules. This book is still the only comprehensive bibliography on related calculations. The material is organized by subject into ta- bles containing a concise characterization. Die Studie erlautert die Etappen der deutschen Ubersetzungsgeschichte des finnischen Romanklassikers "Die sieben Bruder" (Originaltitel: "Seitseman veljesta," 1870) von Aleksis Kivi, so wie sie von sechs Ubersetzern im Laufe dieses Jahrhunderts bewaltigt wurden. Ausgehend von dem fur die Kivi-Rezeption typischen Klischee von der uberzeugenden Darstellung des finnischen Menschen sowie der ihn umgebenden Welt, beruht die Beschreibung und der Vergleich der Ubersetzungen auf der Analyse der Ubersetzungen von Realienbezeichnungen: Wie gehen die Ubersetzer z.B. mit der von Kivi beschriebenen Lebenswelt der Romanfiguren um? Neben unterschiedlichen Ubersetzungsmethoden werden auch ihre Auswirkungen auf das deutschsprachige Profil des Romans deutlich. Zugleich lenkt die Arbeit den Blick auf verschiedene Bedingungen ideologischer, poetischer und funktionaler Art, die potentiell die Entscheidungen der Ubersetzer gepragt haben."

During the publication event of her biography, the former Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, stated that she refused to actively advance the Ukrainian NATO membership because there was an example of a successful, non-aligned Russian neighbor in Europe. The country was Finland, widely recognized for her staunch support for Ukraine after the Russian invasion in February 2022. However, this is not the whole story. Certainly, soon after the invasion, Helsinki decided to join NATO—breaking the tradition of a bilateral »special relationship« with Russia, originally stemming from a traumatic Cold War history of forced appeasement. During the Soviet era, Finland had been treated by the KGB as an »experimental laboratory« for different forms of political, economic, military, intelligence, and informational coercion. Not only did the Soviets learn and test new strategies. Especially after the collapse of the USSR, Finland and Finnish »friends« were used to promote Russian strategic interests within the European Union. The roots of »Schröderization«, the Nord Stream pipeline, and the EU citizenship of Vladimir Putin’s closest oligarchs can be traced to Helsinki. During the era of transatlantic turmoil and new power politics, it is essential to understand the depth and methods of the Russian influence activities in Europe. This book illustrates them holistically by focusing on the Finnish example, not forgetting wider geopolitical contextualization, e.g. implications for Ukraine, debate on European strategic autonomy, and continental memory politics.
