This provocative and candid book goes behind the scenes to reveal the secret of success behind a number of leading UK retailers. It includes in-depth case studies on John Lewis, Selfridges, Carphone Warehouse, Odd bins, Topshop, B&Q and HMV and unique insight from a number of top retail analysts and commentators. It challenges conventional wisdom and makes the case that what the retailer stands for (the brand) is more important than what is sold (the merchandise). Targeted at anyone involved, or simply interested, in retail selling, this important book will help you become a better, smarter retailer in an increasingly competitive and changing world. It will give you the perspective and the retail branding tools to make a difference, whatever your level.

This book is a comparative study of the Anglican Bishop Joseph Butler’s and Neo-Confucianist Wang Yangming’s ethical enterprise. It first analyses, within their respective historical context, the two thinkers’ overarching worldviews and their seminal conception of conscience / liang-chih as a person's supreme moral guide. The English bishop and the Chinese philosopher-military general are then brought into dialogue by way of a comparing and contrasting of their distinct religious-philosophical traditions. In addition, Butler and Wang will be placed in a hypothetical encounter to explore how they, and by proxy Christianity and Confucianism, would critically appraise each other’s spiritual and sociopolitical endeavor. The end purpose of this study is to enhance our perception of the intriguing similarities and complex differences that exist between these two Axial Age civilizations. The author argues that dissonances notwithstanding, Butler and Wang share core values, consonances that could and should set the tone for an amiable Christian-Confucian co-existence.

I wrote this book to encourage my church family. Being a working man I know the long hour's mothers and fathers put in. I'm well aware that they don't have enough time to read and that some books are too long; So, I have tried to keep it short so that this will no longer be a complaint anymore. I was not looking to write a literary masterpiece but to write some words to motivate those who may be believers but don't believe they can have more and do more according to GOD's word. I want them to choose "life MORE abundantly" (John 10:10) and not to settle for less and be complacent. I want to help to end the thinking that they are not worthy. If you read this book and find it helpful, to GOD be the Glory. Thank you and please tell others. This is not about working your behind but working your mind in the fields of GOD's Word. It is about transforming ineffective "poor thinking" into effective "rich thinking". Here's to your new thinking, Dr. Neville Patrick Butler Pastor, the Narrow Gate Family Life Church
