When did you last hear a sermon about the Rapture or the End Times? Does it matter? Pastor, when did you last preach about the Rapture or the End Times? If it has been months or even years, does it really matter? If a concordance search does not reveal a verse mentioning the "Rapture," does the Bible actually teach the doctrine? What is the Rapture? How is it defined? Can you name and explain the 3 main passages that teach the Rapture? When will the Rapture happen? If the Rapture happens today, how can you be sure you will not be left behind? For answers to these and many more important questions, read the inspiring, encouraging, and comforting book, Does the Rapture Still Matter?

Anxiety and Related Disorders Interview Schedule for DSM-5 (ADIS-5) - Adult and Lifetime Version
The Anxiety and Related Disorders Interview Schedule for DSM-5 (ADIS-5) Clinician Manual accompanies both the Adult and Lifetime versions of the ADIS-5 Client Interview Schedules. The interview schedules are designed to diagnose anxiety, mood, obsessive-compulsive, trauma, and related disorders (e.g., somatic symptom, substance use) and to permit differential diagnosis among these disorders according to DSM-5 criteria (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). The Clinician Manual provides information for the clinician about uses of the ADIS-5, changes introduced in the ADIS-5, coverage of the ADIS-5, organization of diagnostic sections, how to administer the ADIS-5, and more.
Anxiety and Related Disorders Interview Schedule for DSM-5 (ADIS-5) - Lifetime Version
The Anxiety and Related Disorders Interview Schedule for DSM-5: Lifetime Version (ADIS-5L) is a structured interview designed to diagnose current and past anxiety, mood, obsessive-compulsive, trauma, and related disorders (e.g., somatic symptom, substance use) and to permit differential diagnosis among these disorders according to DSM-5 criteria (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). In most diagnostic sections, the ADIS-5L also provides: (a) dimensional assessment of the key and associated features of disorders; and (b) inquiry to foster the functional analysis of the various disorders (e.g., nature of situations avoided, content of fear cognitions). The ADIS-5L contains screening questions for a variety of other conditions including hoarding disorder, impulse control disorders, eating disorders, attention deficit disorder, dissociative disorders, and psychotic disorders. Other sections of the ADIS-5L include the assessment of episodic and ongoing life stress, medical and psychiatric treatment history, and familial psychiatric history. The ADIS-5L also contains a Diagnostic Timeline to assist in the determination of the onset, remission, and temporal sequence of current and past disorders.

Arts & Crafts Design

William H. Varnum; Timothy L. (INT) Hansen

Gibbs M. Smith Inc
1995
pokkari
Originally published in 1916 when the Arts & Crafts movement was in its heyday, this is a virtual textbook of materials, color, techniques, and designs. Arts & Crafts Design is a practical guide to the creation of high-quality, high-style furnishings through the industrial arts. "In this relativistic age in which de gustilrie non disputandum est (it is undisputed that each person has their own sense of taste), it is refreshing to look back to the early twentieth century when at least a few people were certain that there are universal rules for good art and also that they had themselves mastered these precepts and could pass them on to a society that loved commonly held values. William H. Varnum was one of those people. He offers here a textbook that will, if followed, allow students to 'directly apply well-recognized principles of design to specific materials and problems.' No situation esthetics here. In fact, he followed these principles in designing the logos representing his tools and ratio system on the cover of his book."The publisher of this new edition has added a useful foreword and substitued the title Arts and Crafts Design for the original (1916) Industrial Arts Design, an appropriate modification since the term "industrial" suggests factory production whereas Varnum referred to objects that today we call "Craftsman"--Rookwood pottery, Stickley furniture, Jarvie candlesticks, etc. A delightful touch is that Varnum included pictures of these objects alongside the principles by which he believed they were designed. Varnum's book offers an enlightening, if somewhat technical, insight into thinking about design before World War I. There is no doubt that the Arts and Crafts period during which the principles of simple beauty married so neatly with function can be better understood and appreciated today through Varnum's perceptions."Robert Winter

Highly acclaimed and widely read since its first publication in 1986, American Workers, American Unions provides a concise and compelling history of American workers and their unions in the twentieth century and the first decade of the twenty-first. Taking into account recent important work on the 1970s and the Reagan revolution, the fourth edition newly considers the stagflation issue, the rise of globalization and big box retailing, the failure of Congress to pass legislation supporting the right of public employees to collective bargaining, the defeat in Congress of legislation to revise the National Labor Relations Act, the emasculation of the Humphrey-Hawkins Act, and the changing dynamics of blue-collar politics. In addition to important new information on the 1970s and 1980s, the fourth edition contains a completely new final chapter. Largely written by Timothy J. Minchin, this chapter provides a rare survey of American workers and their unions between 9/11 and the 2012 presidential election. Gilbert J. Gall presents new information on government workers and their recent battles to defend workplace rights.

Understanding Analysis and its Connections to Secondary Mathematics Teaching

Understanding Analysis and its Connections to Secondary Mathematics Teaching

Getting certified to teach high school mathematics typically requires completing a course in real analysis. Yet most teachers point out real analysis content bears little resemblance to secondary mathematics and report it does not influence their teaching in any significant way. This textbook is our attempt to change the narrative. It is our belief that analysis can be a meaningful part of a teacher's mathematical education and preparation for teaching. This book is a companion text. It is intended to be a supplemental resource, used in conjunction with a more traditional real analysis book. The textbook is based on our efforts to identify ways that studying real analysis can provide future teachers with genuine opportunities to think about teaching secondary mathematics. It focuses on how mathematical ideas are connected to the practice of teaching secondary mathematics–and not just the content of secondary mathematics itself. Discussions around pedagogy are premised on the belief that the way mathematicians do mathematics can be useful for how we think about teaching mathematics. The book uses particular situations in teaching to make explicit ways that the content of real analysis might be important for teaching secondary mathematics, and how mathematical practices prevalent in the study of real analysis can be incorporated as practices for teaching. This textbook will be of particular interest to mathematics instructors–and mathematics teacher educators–thinking about how the mathematics of real analysis might be applicable to secondary teaching, as well as to any prospective (or current) teacher who has wondered about what the purpose of taking such courses could be.
