Alan C. Williams is a widely published Australian author, concentrating mainly on women's magazines, where he pushes the boundaries way past 'boy meets girl' love stories. He has had over forty short stories published in Australia's That's Life, many of them included in The Rain, the Park and Other Things, his first collection. Since 2012, he has had stories published in Ireland, Canada and Britain, where he is also a regular contributor to Take a Break magazine. His quirky tales cover crime, fantasy, science fiction, romance and thrillers, usually set in the here and now. He has vowed never to write a western. Despite being both male and Australian, he is a member of the RNA (Romantic Novelists Association). It seems that, like many of his stories, the impossible is possible after all. Alan is a retired science teacher, currently exiled and living in France, residing in a seventeenth-century stone farmhouse with his long-suffering wife, Anne, and maniacal cat, Zorro. His continuing writing story can be found at acwilliams-author.com

The Calamy family was a prominent family in English Nonconformity from the period of Stuart Puritanism down to the Victorian era. The most famous of the family is Edmund Calamy III (1671-1732), who was an English Presbyterian churchman and historian. Ordained at the London meeting-house of Samuel Annesley, the Presbyterian grandfather of John Wesley, Calamy served Christ faithfully in London during the first third of the eighteenth century. This booklet by the historian-pastor Alan Clifford is a celebration of Calamy's life and ministry on the 350th anniversary of his birth.

This very welcome account of Philip Doddridge has Alan Clifford's characteristic clarity and forcefulness-that is, commitment-coupled with, again characteristically, an unrivalled familiarity with the primary sources. Its summary of the context and course of Doddridge's life draws out clearly his character and significance. And all this is done with a liveliness and wit too rare in scholarly writing.

Mentorship Matters provides an updated guide to effective mentorship practices and relationships. The book reviews the history and research about what makes effective mentorship for both mentors and mentees, while lists a number of how to's for improved mentorship practice. The book covers ten cases of effective mentorship practices from the viewpoint of mentors, mentees and organizations and their mentorship programs. It reviews the latest forms of mentorship practices and makes the case for this process as becoming a critical management skill in the post-pandemic world: the world of flattened organization hierarchies, blends of work at home and at workplace and the need for greater employee engagement leading to more innovation and improved customer relations. This book is an ideal primer for any organizations looking to develop their own mentorship programs. The cases present success samples of both external programs and internal corporate programs, and arguments to garner sponsorship to launch your own program.
Military Aviation of the First World War

Military Aviation of the First World War

This beautifully illustrated book provides information on the air arms of the nations which took part in aerial warfare during the First World War featuring the Aces and their mounts. The war was a global conflict with 57 nations involved, but with aviation being in its infancy only eight nations had a major air arm to their fighting Services. The Allies: Britain, America, Italy, Belgium, France, and Russia and then the Central Powers comprising Germany and Austria-Hungary. This book is not intended to be comprehensive, for to provide such a work would require many volumes totalling thousands of pages. Instead this should be viewed as a relatively detailed overview; a general introduction to the topic of military aviation in the First World War. The aim has been to produce a well-illustrated book to maintain the interest of the reader with some short biographies of the leading Aces and basic information on the aircraft types used, and their development during the First World War. Furthermore, this book focuses on the air arms initially developed by the respective armies, and therefore the air arms of the navies, although fleetingly touched upon, are not dealt with in much detail. To provide reasonable coverage for the Royal Naval Air Service alone would require a separate and substantial additional volume. In a similar manner, although Zeppelins, other airships and balloons are mentioned and illustrated, little detail is given. The book contains details of the top Aces for each nation and in extensive illustration sections provides an extensive summary of the aircraft flown. While much of the focus is on the Aces, the book provides information on the aircraft flown and also has a separate illustrated section on Manfred von Richthofen and his 'flying circus'.

Twin Mustang: The North American F-82 at War

One of the most unusual and remarkable American fighter aircraft, the F-82 Twin Mustang was the last mass production propeller-driven fighter acquired by the U.S. Air Force. Originally intended as a very long-range fighter escort for the Boeing B-29 Superfortress during World War II, it arrived too late to see combat and evolved into a night and all-weather fighter during the post-war years. Combat operations in the Korean War followed, along with a host of other dynamic episodes of deployment. This work traces the developmental, operational, and combat history of this unique American fighter and features 120 photographs and illustrations, many of which have never been published before. Seven chapters, all extensively illustrated, cover the aircraft's development, descriptions of the variants and sub-types, details of initial entry into service, three chapters covering the F-82's service in the Korean War, and a final chapter detailing the type's removal from the Korean War Theatre in February 1952, to see out its operational days in the Alaskan Air Defence Command. An appendix section follows, featuring tables of the different variants, an illustrated list of known nose art applied to F-82s, and an entry of losses suffered in the Korean War. All these additional details bring new points of interest to the popular Images of War format, making for a richer, more informative reading experience. Focussing on an overlooked type, deployed in a conflict often side-lined within mainstream war histories, this publication offers a much deserved platform upon which to appreciate this dynamic and immensely interesting aircraft.

A development of the successful Lockheed 'medium twins' of the late 1930s, the PV Ventura/Harpoon family of patrol bombers saw widespread service with both the US Navy/Marine Corps and the TAF and Commonwealth from October 1942 onwards. The USAAF also used surplus Venturas originally ordered by the RAF, designated B-34 Lexingtons, in the bomber training and coastal patrol roles. The final variant in this family was the larger PV-2 Harpoon, which was built to a US Navy requirement from March 1944 onwards. Used primarily in the Pacific, 470 Harpoons saw frontline service on anti-shipping and submarine patrols through to VJ-Day. This book covers each of these variants in complete illustrated detail.

The Texas Revolution is remembered for the 13-day siege of the alamo and the immortal heroes thus created in David Crockett, James Bowie, and William Barret Travis. This work explains that the Revolution had been fermenting in resentments and minor confrontations for some years beforehand. War finally broke out after an obscure skirmish at Gonzales in October 1835, fought over possession of a small cannon. A Mexican army invaded, but Texians rallied in defense and at the Battle of San Jacinto won their independence.
