This book examines violence against women in the name of honor in Iraqi Kurdistan, taking an intersectional perspective. It reveals the links between destructive, state-sanctioned honor discourse and notions of manhood as they are shaped by a resistance culture dedicated to the struggle against ethnic oppression.

Even the sight of her mother's brutal murder could not quash this remarkable child's faith in human goodness - or her determination to prevail against overwhelming odds. After the war, Alicia continued to risk her life, leading Polish Jews on an underground route to freedom in Palestine.

He is a victim of the Tlatelolco Massacre in October, and she does her best to save his life.An avid reader, her love of language becomes a passion. As a highly qualified linguist, she travels to Spain and then West Africa, where she joins a team of Australians on an expedition kayaking down the Niger River, a feat never achieved before. During the adventure she falls in love with Alain, the love of her life. When he is killed in a terrorist ambush in Sierra Leone, she goes through a period of unbearable grief. Calling on all her reserves of courage and resilience, she escapes to Western Australia, where she meets Lennard. He's a world-renowned Aboriginal glass artist and activist, who invites her to assist in reviving Malgana, his dying language. Will this new challenge prove a turning point in her life and lead to happiness?
"It's so great to have you home, sweetie, even if just for the day " Dad smiled, giving my hand a gentle squeeze."It's so great to be home " I smiled, returning my Dad's hand squeeze. "Aunt Ashley says hi.""How is my baby sister doing?""My favorite Aunt in the entire world is doing great " I smiled. "Living with her while filming my show and upcoming show in Los Angeles is a great second home for me "This was very true Living with Aunt Ashley was amazing Truth be told, I could not think of a better second home for me than with her Even though I loved living with Aunt Ashley, it was not the same as being at home in my hometown of Phoenix, Arizona with my parents, plethora of good friends, and best friend, Brent(aka my longtime secret love interest). On a different note, I am so happy to be home for Christmas Not only will I get to see my parent s, but I will also get to see Brent and his wonderful parents, too Ever since Brent and I were little, It became a tradition that Brent, his parents, and my family spend Christmas together I have been looking forward to this holiday for weeks, and now it is finally here

Born Alice Clarke, the daughter of Oxford university's 'first director of printing', Alicia D'Anvers' poetry demonstrates an intimate familiarity with Oxford and especially with the workings of the press. This volume reproduces three works: A Poem Upon His Sacred Majesty, His Voyage for Holland (1691), Academia: or, the Humours of the University of Oxford in Burlesque Verse (1691), and The Oxford-Act: A Poem (1693). A Poem Upon His Sacred Majesty... responds to William III's decision to visit his native Holland to negotiate with fellow Protestants about their conflict with Catholic France. William, often impatient with English political wrangling, sometimes hinted that he might abdicate and return to Holland. D'Anvers' poem reflects real anxieties about such an event, as well as solid support for the Protestant king. The copy reproduced in this edition is from the Houghton Library at Harvard University. Academia and The Oxford-Act concern more local matters. Probably D'Anvers' best poem, Academia satirises some of Oxford University's 'younger sort', often adopting language that seems as rough and coarse as that of the men that she mocks. The Oxford-Act focuses on the annual university 'Act' or commencement ceremony which lasted for several days and included many rituals. The copy reproduced here is from The Huntington Library. The copy of Academia is reproduced from that held at the Folger Shakespeare Library.
