It is my privilege to make available this excellent book on the "Jewish Offerings and Other Ministry" in this reprint. Arthur J. Marks does an excellent job of relating the offerings of Leviticus to our blessed Lord Jesus. It is not a book for entertainment or casual reading as he goes into depth with the subject.

What difference does scholarship on the historical Jesus make for the way we think about the meaning of Christian faith in the twenty-first century? In The Historical Jesus Goes To Church, biblical scholars--Fellows of the Jesus Seminar--speak directly to the ways in which new knowledge of the Jesus of history requires and enables us to think differently about the significance of Jesus and about the reliability and authority of the Bible. They also imagine what these new understandings imply for public worship, preaching, prayer and practice, and life in community. These articles evoke the spirit of Paul, Christianity's first theologian, who like us found himself standing at the intersection of two eras and knew that he had to let go of his past if he hoped to have a future.
The Peaceniks: The thankless job of trying to keep America out of war
Biographical sketches of 7 U.S. Senators who risked their political careers to oppose the rush to war: Paul Wellstone (Iraq); Wayne Morse, Ernest Gruening, George McGovern and Frank Church (Vietnam); Robert Lafollette, Sr., George W. Norris and James K. Vardaman (World War I)"A historical study profiles United States senators who took unpopular stands against wars...The result is a sophisticated and illuminating discussion of some iconically courageous and divisive political stands. A perceptive, well-informed take on a vital though rarely celebrated tradition in American politics. (Kirkus Reviews, April 2020)"

Luteranism - From Wittenberg to the USA. One of the things that should stand out very clearly as one reads this historical overview of Lutheranism in America, is the degree to which a church body's orthodoxy and polity can change from one era to the next, even from one generation to the next. The reader will probably come to the conclusion that Lutheranism is itself in great peril. And it is. the conservative, confessional Lutheran bodies comprise the last outpost of orhodox Lutheranism in America, and considerably so also on the world scene of Lutheranism. Perhaps the reader may even recognize in this volume the call to Lutherans to move away from neo-Lutheranism and modernism and return to sound, scriptural orthodoxy, both in teaching and in polity.
Caesar, Cicero & Cleopatra

Caesar, Cicero & Cleopatra

CAESAR COMES ALIVEArthur Paone, attorney and author, has taken a memorable period in the history of Western Civilization and brought it alive on the page for the modern reader in a vivid and completely engaging narrative. The reader will find quite caught up in it, and enjoy both the story and the refresher course on this critical period in Roman history, as Paone stays close to known historic facts. Most impressive is his skillful treatment of his principle protagonist, Julius Caesar. Considering his legendary status in western history, and the fact that books about him would fill a large library, developing him as a quasi-fictional character was a risky and courageous undertaking. But Paone pulled it off, and he did it with style. Caesar truly comes alive here as an understandable and very human individual. Paone shows Caesar as a civic leader, a politician, a husband and lover, a father, a military strategist, and as a hero and a visionary. But he does even more than this. He also shows us, in a most persuasive way, the emotional, intellectual, and moral qualifies that made him such a legendary figure; that made him that rare and extraordinary human being whose accomplishments would live on for many centuries beyond his own relatively short life. The reader will come away from this actually understanding the man Caesar, and also how he achieved his greatness. The supporting actors, Cicero and Cleopatra, likewise come alive for the reader. The story also has a robust contemporary echo. The popular reformer who threatens the entrenched interests of the privileged elite certainly has powerful echoes in today's poisonous political environment. It is no small accomplishment on Paone's part to be able to capture the essence of such an extraordinary character and get it down on the page in narrative form in such a believable and engaging way.
With a Critical Eye: An Intellectual and His Times
Internationally renowned sociologist, Arthur J. Vidich (1922-2006), was an active researcher and teacher whose career spanned the second half of the twentieth century. With a Critical Eye: An Intellectual and His Times recounts Vidich's career in the wider cultural context of his life and work. Providing a window into post-World War II intellectual life, the richness of the autobiography lies not only in Vidich's perspectives on the academic world, but also in his personal and sociological observations about the world around him. Best known for his book, Small Town in Mass Society (co-authored with Joseph Bensman, 1958), Vidich taught for more than forty years at the New School for Social Research in New York. He published eighteen books, co-edited a book series with Robert Jackall, and was the founding editor of the International Journal of Politics, Culture, and Society.

'The Hallelujah Series' is a splendid book of poems encircling and questioning the role of place in our lives-the role of place in this beautiful world, in this rough and tough yet delicate island home. Art Stewart's seventh volume of science-inspired poems invoke imagery providing a crisp, stained-glass view of life and place in these peculiar times of science, love, despair, and hope. He delivers simple but poignant messages, poem after poem, with precision and wonder, over scales large and small, in a delightfully accessable style: "The delicate web / astonishes us with dew and how it arcs / from gravity and how it bends in breeze, // astonishes us / with its chemical simplicity / its structural form and by the fact it was / pinned in darkness overnight." And hallelujah to that: yes, hallelujah, the word that has spawned "great swaths of music: imagine / waves of praise all ye, Yah, / rising, hill after distant hill, ascending / in a massive chorus, an offering / to flowers, fields, mountains." These poems remind us, over and over, of the importance of life as we rush about, from day to day, from place to place, knowing, but not certain how to live.

When archaeologist Roger Glenthorpe is found murdered in a remote seaside inn on the Norfolk coast, it seems to the local police to be an open and shut case. The only question is whether the shell shocked soldier that is arrested will be found guilty or judged insane due to furor epilepticus. But when private detective Grant Colwyn is called in to investigate he finds more than one reason to think the young man is innocent. But who then did commit murder? The cash strapped innkeeper? The innkeeper's mother who is confined to her room because she is given to violent outbursts? The innkeeper's beautiful daughter? What role does the spectral White Lady play? Does her appearance really presage death? And what is the source of the hideous shrieking that comes from the prehistoric flint pit where the body was found? This classic book was edited and published by Resurrected Press.
