Få ämnen har diskuterats med samma intensitet – för att inte säga konfliktnivå – som det om hur det nya, heterogena Sverige representeras i medierna. Åsikterna kring hur det ser ut idag, hur det borde se ut i framtiden liksom hur vi bäst tar oss dit, är många och diskussionen blir gärna fylld med känslor. Och det kanske inte är så konstigt: ämnet berör djupt personliga frågor kring representation, identitet och rättvisa. Det får människor att agera med kraftiga moraliska imperativ – på båda sidor av debatten. Samtidigt finns en slående brist på medieforskning på området och den forskning som finns hämtar ofta teorier från andra skolbildningar. Institutet för mediestudier bad ett antal forskare att titta närmare på medierepresentation i etern och i tidningar. Vad är relevant att mäta? Crooked Bay is a quiet little town on the west coast of Newfoundland. It has a bunch of little houses, two churches, "The Reserve" and an RCMP outpost.
