When I first started dating my British man, I never gave a second thought about differences in language and culture. Why would I? After all, we Americans speak English, or do we...? It really was as if we were both speaking a completely different language, even though the words that comprised the language were the same. I very quickly learned so much more about the language I was supposed to have been taught at school, the commonalities, the differences, and the good old-fashioned belly-laughs about it all that still punctuate our married life to this day. Since the Anglo-American royal marriage, these quirky anecdotes and fun-filled trivia topics have become more popular than ever. More importantly, I decided to write this book for, and dedicate it to all transatlantic couples who will regularly find themselves completely divided and confused by their common language and culture.
